WaywardHaze;5574042The issue isn't with servers, just offline (with bots) I get the error, haven't tried online.
You misunderstood. Start a new JAMP server is not only dedicated... it's also an offline server with bots, or any game that u start from MultiPlayer (also "map mp/ffa3").WaywardHaze;5574042So ill have to change it via the console everytime I want a new match / map?
Yes, or maybe you could write a config file for it, which u execute and etc...
write a script and assign the whole resolution and r_mode changing thing to a single button which, when pressed, would instantly switch the game to widescreen mode
Or something like this. It would be easy to edit the main.menu file, when you make a new button, which set r_mode to 8, start map, and back to -1. I'm not sure if it could execute r_mode -1 after map change... you should try :D Or just make a button in main menu, which set it to 8, and changes map, and in-game there would be a button, or the default ingame menu with OnOpen could execute r_mode -1.
If I had any skill relating to coding / editing configuration files I would most surely try it myself, alas I am not well versed in such things...
Config files contain only a bunch of console commands, which u can check on Google easily :) Btw first you should try something like this: "r_mode 8; map mp/ffa5; r_mode -1", maybe works if you are lucky :D
Would it be possible to create an autoexec.cfg file in the base folder of JA that had the commands to auto-switch to, say: "map mp/map name here; r_mode -1", so that whenever I launch that map, it'll automatically switch to that resolution? I could just do that for every map then in the file right?
Failing that is there a way I can set the resolutions in the game myself? IE when r_mode 8 would be whatever, I could alter "8"s original resolution to my own?
I think you can add config files to the game's shortcut by adding "+exec " on the end of the command.
I tried running a normal match, all is well, then opened the console and input: "seta r_mode -1", (in the config my custom width and height is 1920 x 1080) and it said it would change upon restart. I restarted the match and it was still the same 4:3 resolution, and quitting to the main menu also yielded the same resolution. Opened JA again, everything's in 1080 and as expected launching a match crashes...
It would appear you can't change the r_mode mid game - it requires a restart. I'm still thinking actually changing the game's resolutions myself (as I said in my previous post) and using them as you would normally is my best bet, though is that even possible?
After you change to r_mode -1, do /vid_restart
Raz0r;5574358After you change to r_mode -1, do /vid_restart
That worked! Very annoying process to go through just to play a multiplayer match in widescreen though...
Gotta find a way to streamline it. Thanks for semi-solving the issue, though!
Btw why do u need to start a new offline server? If you just test a map or sth like that... u can use SP instead.
I just like messing around with bots, exploring new maps and testing different mods, etc. Multiplayer ishow I've always done it.
Is there any way to somehow make multiplayer skip the r_mode check or just alter a standard res to my own?
