Hello.

At the beginning, I want to apologize for my grammar. I'm from Poland :) Sorry.

I've got win 7 Home Premium (64bit)

My graphics card : ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5700

I've got the last drivers (ATI 10.8) and the problem is...

When I'm trying to run jasp.exe (and jamp.exe too) I can see big blue image Star Wars Jedi Knight : Jedi Academy (intro image). Then I'm waiting.. and waiting and nothing.

Then ctrl+alt+delete and i've got a problem "Jedi Academy SP stopped working" or something like that (I'm not really good in english).

I tried to solve that problem. I've install patch, I tried to run as administrator and change the compatibility and still nothing

Do you have any ideas for that ?

Please help! :(

Greg.

Yeah I did it.

I reinstalled jk3 Then did http://forums.filefront.com/sw-jk3-problems-errors-help/425335-crash-fix-ati-catalyst-10-5-a.html

after that I have installed patch 1.01

and did http://forums.filefront.com/sw-jk3-problems-errors-help/425335-crash-fix-ati-catalyst-10-5-a.html again....

then I change compatibility and tried to run. and here is the message

JA: v1.0.1.0 win-x86 Oct 24 2003 Initialising zone memory ..... ----- FS_Startup ----- Current search path: C:\Windows\system32/base

---------------------- 0 files in pk3 files

Running in restricted demo mode.

----- FS_Startup ----- Current search path: C:\Windows\system32/demo

---------------------- 0 files in pk3 files Couldn't load default.cfg

he is searching files in windows folder ^.-

ok. I tried to run it as administrator without xp sp2 compatibility, but console is too fast for me and I can't see anything. I did a printscreen and there is few information:

execing default.cfg couldn't exec jaconfig.cfg couldn't exec autoexec.cfg

I was searching that file in my PC. I found only jaconfig.cfg and server.cfg. There is no autoexec.cfg.

Do you have any idea how can I see all report from console ?

And any idea, what else can i do ?

Oh and I should tell it earlier.

Now I can't see even intro image.

------------------------EDIT-----------------------------

I did it all again and i've got something. I can see console. Look:

There's a difference between xp and win7 that in xp is Windows/system32 and in win7 is Windows/System32 Maybe that's the problem ?

Filenames on windows aren't case sensitive, so no.

Your issue is that the drivers aren't working. I suggest you roll back to ATI Catalyst 10.4 to play Jedi Academy. Don't do the fix as suggested above, since it doesn't always work when combined with ATI Catalyst 10.8 or above.

Try going further down the driver version line. Try version 9.11.

So... Withouth fix = error "Jedi Academy SP stopped working"

With fix = console and problem with openGL.

I'll try to install driver 8.x

Oh. And, I don't now if this is obvious but This is notebook (Ati radeon MOBILITY).

Maybe that's important ?

Generally, notebooks aren't the best choice for gaming, even if the manufacturer advertises them as "gaming laptops" because they don't have graphic cards. What they do have is just a graphic chip integrated on the motherboard. Such solutions are not good for gaming.

Sure, there are plenty of games that will work on laptops, some with (minor or major) problems, some without any problems at all, but there are also games that simply won't work at all on some laptops, while they might or might not work on other (different) laptops.

Jedi Academy seems to be one of the those games that have a tendency to refuse to work on some laptops, regardless of how good those laptops are, while it might work on other laptops. Maybe you're just unlucky to have a laptop Jedi Academy doesn't like for some reason. :clueless:

Of course, there's also a problem with the crappy ATI drivers which Jedi Academy tends to spit out when fed with. Raven spoiled their child. =p

I've played in Matrix : Path of Neo, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, age of empires 2, prince of persia : two thrones and it does work.

So I don't think that Jedi Academy won't work. I've spoken with My friend, who has notebook with ati chipset too and he told me that Jedi Academy works perfectly, but he has got linux (debian ?), not Win7 (64 bit)...

Maybe any patch ?
