I know this is a stupid question... but could someone tell me how I change the textures? What I do is use the KotOR Tool to extract the textures to my desktop, then use GIMP to alter them. All is well until I want to make it work in-game. I'd be really happy if someone told me how to use them.
Make sure you have the original item out in the .uti editor and make sure you select the correct texture that corresponds with that item.
In the .uti of the item itself, there should be something on the first tab stating "Texture Variation". At the end of your .tga file that you extracted, there should be a 2 digit number somewhere( or even a 0 and a single digit number). Change it to some other number (above 60 is best), and make sure you change the "Texture Variation" to the same number on your .tga file's name. Then it should work in game as long as you didn't change the letters before the two digits on the texture.

Yes, but how would I save an altered Party Member skin? Would the same rules apply?
Not necessarily. You would have to edit their original item's skin (Mira's Ballistic Jacket, Atton's Ribbed Jacket).
Unless, of course, you mean their actual skin/face/eyes.. Then I would have to say you find their head and just skin it and save it as the same name in your override folder.
Well, what I want to do is change the skin of my party member to a skin I downloaded. It is Zaalbar and the 3rd (Dark) Wookie as a PC skin. I download the mod, and there are like 20 different looks that all get installed on the PC using TSL Patcher. I take the look I like, and I don't know how to get it to work on Zaalbar. I copy it and past it on Zaalbar's file, which I extracted with KotOR tool, but nothing happens.
You may need a few more files that came with the mod to get the texture to work. Normally, if you download like, a skin mod for Zaalbar, it comes with it's own files. Don't mess with them- just put them in your override folder. You may be editing the wrong item. Don't worry about extracting the Zaalbar original skin, you shouldn't need to.
No, the thing is is that the files are meant to be installed on the PC (Player Character), but I want to install them on Zaalbar. Go ahead and download the 3rd Player Character as Wookie mod, look at the files. I want to use the one with the number '302' on Zaalbar, but I don't know how.
Zaalbar has a unique wookiee appearance, not like the other ones. The same texture won't work on Zaalbar's corresponding model.
Well, what I do is I extract the Zaalbar file using KotOR Tool, then copy the file from the download I want and paste it on that file. Now, when I look at it in GIMP, it looks like I want it to, but afterwards I don't know how to change the appearance. Basically, After you alter the file, how do you get it to work on the game? Do I extract it to Override?
I believe you place the edited .tga file into your override.
If that doesn't work, this may require some appearance.2da editing. Though, I don't think it should.
