As many of you have experienced before, you are in possession of a very old game, a game which you have completed time and time again. Eventually, you get to be so familiar with the game; you start wanting a change of pace, a change of scenery. You start wanting to play around with the scenery, the codes, and the dialogue. This is the position I am at with the first KOTOR. What my next target is: the Endar Spire and Taris. When you reach the Endar Spire’s bridge, you look out the front window and see the spinning form of Taris in the distance. What I would like to do is change this planet. Using KOTOR Tool, have already extracted LHR_Taris.tpc (.TGA after extraction). Using this, I have thought that perhaps you could use the photo of another planet, rename it, and then put it onto the override folder. This, however, accomplished nothing. The Endar Spire was still spinning toward Taris. What do I have to do to make the game display a different planet?
So... you re-skinned the TGA then RE-named it say LHR_naboo ?
No. I used a photo of the Death Star and named it LHR_Taris, the same name as the original Taris image. I even saved it as a .TGA image. After that, I tried using the standard JPEG format, like the Brotherhood of Shadow. Neither approach worked. Once I got back to the Endar Spire’s bridge, I saw that nothing had changed. The Endar Spire was still spiraling toward Taris. Another approach I took was to try the same thing on the Brotherhood of Shadow. It should be, after all, easier just to edit a mod, since it already uses JPEG formatting. I proceeded to take the photo of Malachor 5, give its name to the photo of the Death Star, and put that photo into the override folder. That also failed to succeed. Once I was back aboard Mandalore’s ship, I found that the battle was still taking place over Malachor 5.
Well for one, kotor stuff must always be tga files. You should then open the file and paste your image over it.
I have tried that, as well as redoing every trick I know. I still have not been able to find any sort of success.
I have tried that, as well as redoing every trick I know. I still have not been able to find any sort of success. Obviously, :google: is not your friend when it comes to game modding answers. Is this a scripting issue? Is there any conceivable way of resolving this situation? :feedback:
Well, I'm not a modder but i messed a bit with tga files kotor tool and dialog editors, and i think you have to direct the module to the right TGA or I say, you want to change Malachor 5, rename ur version to the same tga the original uses and delete the other one (or it will ask to override the original). Not sure about this, but I've never tried something like this.
Hope it helps.
I already tried that. See post #3.
