Modding is only possible for the PC. I think there may be a way to mod the Xbox though... You can only get Yavin SS for Xbox Live (I think). P.S: If this is wrong, please tell this guy to ignore me and follow another guys advice.

Console modding is illegal, and thus forbidden under the forum rules.

Please remove your post.

And, do not pass that information on to anyone else, since modifying the consoles in any way voids the warranties, and will have them instantly banned from all Microsoft services - making it impossible for them to access Xbox Live, DLC and system updates, and meaning that if anything goes wrong with their console it will cost them a lot of money to have it put right since Microsoft will not touch a modified console. That's not something you want to take liability for.

You want mods? Play the PC version. fin

No, no, it wasn't your post that was problematic. Simply JM_Bane's, the links referred to modifying the console in order to run PC version mods.

Thanks for taking the info off, Bane, and sorry for the harsh tone. Simply wanted to draw the line in the sand before we got anyone in trouble with Microsoft.

Anyway, back on to the topic....

The Xbox version wasn't actually designed to support third-party content from the PC version, since the PC and Xbox are different formats and the game had to be assembled differently for them. At the time the Xbox didn't have much cross-platform compatibility so I'm sure BioWare assumed it wasn't necessary.

Any site stating that PC version mods can be used on consoles is either misunderstanding something, or referring to modifying the console. It's not that the Xbox can't use them, just that it requires making changes to the console and game to allow it, since in their out-of-the-box forms neither has the capacity to run second- or third-party add-ons

For native (unmodified) compatibility with mods, the mods would likely have to be created and then 'cooked' for the Xbox format using a specific tool or function of the mod kits (a lá Unreal Tournament 3 which allows PC mods to be converted into a secondary format for usage on PS3).

Of course, should there be such a tool allowing users to do that, BioWare will be the ones who have it, but then again they'd need LucasArts permission to release it as KotOR is a Star Wars game and thus, LEC make all the administrative decisions towards it.

It's a messy situation. As you say, it's theoretically possible to use mods with the Xbox version because BioWare released a first-party mod as DLC, but we don't really have the means to do so without making alterations to the consoles and game software.

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.
