Overestimated or Underestimated?
I’ve been feeling that people have been over and underestimated things relating to kotor and kotor 2 so I’ve made a thread about what I think has been over and underestimated. So what do you guys think has been over and underestimated? In my personal opinion I feel that Hk-47 has truly been overestimated by a lot of people. He is funny but I always felt that people thought he was a lot better then he really was. I don’t think that he could kill reven in a 1 vs. 1 fight, so what makes him so much better?
I also used to feel the same way with reven but then the whole reven overestimated happened and now I feel that he is now truly way underestimated. He could kill any Jedi or so called “Sith” in his era, so what makes him so weak?
I also felt the ebon hawk got a bad rep. It was old technology but it could beat out most ships in its day, so what made it so much worse?
I even dare say I feel that Darth Bandon has been overestimated he was killed by Reven and yet people think he is better then Reven, how does that work?
So am I wrong? What things are underestimated? What things are overrated? I would like to hear what you think. Personal opinions are not endorsed by filefront.
I think you're truly right. But people are opinionated, and will continue to be that way no matter how hard you try to change it.
Revan91;4760078I think you're truly right. But people are opinionated, and will continue to be that way no matter how hard you try to change it.
I'm not really trying to change it I'm just asking what you think.
I think HK-47 is truly overestimated. I'm scared to say anything about Revan though because then Nirvana will flame my me for being a fanboy. :( hahaha

Personally I think HK-47 is overestimated by most people. He really isn't that great. He can't even kill a trandoshan properly - let alone Revan.
Formerly known as Graeme and Arld.
I agree with just about everything you said.
I've discussed the feelings I have on Revan that are akin to yours before so I'm not going to open up that kettle of worms again and because of reasons similar to Revan91's.
HK-47 while being a hilarious character that I'd never want to part with, is overrated in his abilities. But then I guess that would be the game's fault. His Backstory is a Slaughterfest but for some reason his in game character is just pretty much useless for the lack of Skills and Feats.
The Ebon Hawk is underrated in my opinion. Just think how much that little ship survived. Crash after crash, Fighter ambushes, countless Spice runs. I think it deserves my respect at least.
As for Darth Bandon, I haven't really experianced any of it to tell you the truth. But then again Bandon was never a significant threat to me in the game so I tend to rank him along with the drolls of nameless Sith I've killed.
It is a matter of selfish, subjective and superficial statements in most cases, whereas people equal "like" to "best" or "good", and "dislike" to "bad" or "stupid". The truth is official statements and backed data are final on this, wether one likes it or not. I am sure Revan has been overestimated, but so has he been underestimated. Neither is better than the other, but who may rise to hold absolute objectivity in a world of short-sighted contributors? Just to make a point, read the latest EU developments during and after Legacy of the Force. Darth Caedus is officialy the most powerful Sith Lord of all times. It doesn't matter if you thought Revan was a "true" Sith Lord, or if you dig Palpatine or Bane; in the end, official sources are always right, and Jacen is top dog.
Wow someone finally kicked Darth Sidious off the throne eh? Can't say I'm disappointed but boy am I surprised that Goerge Lucas went along with this. But if he actually didn't someone's head would've rolled. :D
Hahaha, actually it doesn't work that way. You see, Georgie doesn't know much about the Expanded Universe, and such has been made clear in many interviews and statements throughout Del Rey's and Dark Horse's epoch. It seems he has given Executive Editor, Sue Rostoni, full power and right over the EU, with a few exceptions. For instance, none of "the big three" (Luke, Leia and Han) may be killed in Comics, books or videogames. In an interview, Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) was asked if daddy Lucas was aware of Mara Jade's demise in Sacrifice, as well as Luke's having a son named Ben, and the actor said the original author was not particularly interested in character development outside the movie-timeline, as long as his limitations were respected. Editors also confirmed George barely knew Luke had a child of his own when Sacrifice was released. I have always despised Lucas messing around with already established content and backgrounds (the Sith Wars come to mind... one of the biggest fiascos), so I am quite relieved he hasn't been very much into great works like KOTOR (Comics-Videogames), New Jedi Order, and Legacy of the Force (Novels-Comics), for they are the storylines I love the most in the overall Star Wars myth. I believe the last Expanded Universe work he revised was Dark Empire/Empire's End, and he stated if a last trilogy had been filmed, it would pretty much had been like such publication. So you see, my friend, I'm praying he is too busy with an Indy 5 film, his non-sensic CG/cartoonic show, or whatever commercial videogame release coming out of a non-EU Star Wars fan-wannabe (Can anybody say The Force Un-real?) to pay attention to the good stuff. I mean, let's face it, he would have a heart atack with Kreia, Vergere, Kyp Durron, Jacen and Ben being so alignment-ambigous regarding the so-called Light/Dark nature of the Force. He would crucify all of us, grayish, merry folk!!
Oh trust me I'm all too aware of Lucas' blatant disregard for most of the EU. I believe his exact words were something like...
"There are two worlds here. There's my world, which is the movies, and there's this other world that has been created, which I say is the parallel universe—the licensing world of the books, games and comic books. They don't intrude on my world, which is a select period of time, but they do intrude in between the movies. I don't get too involved in the parallel universe."
I'm just surprised he allowed one of the most important and not to mention by his own word the most powerful Sith Lord to be ousted at what seems to be no more than a whim.
