Hey all, My new KOTOR game came this morning. But guess what? IT DIDN'T WORK. Every other disc but disk one works fine. The computer reads it, and the data is all there. Disk one is a different story. I insert the disk, await a short while, and then it tells me that "the background image could not be found". Then it says "please check the back of the disk for dirt or damage". Now, I've looked at this disk again and again and AGAIN, and I can assure you, there is ZERO damage on the back. Literally, no scratches, no fingerprints, NOTHING. So, there's two explanations that I've come up with: 1. The disc itself has an error, or an invisible crack or scratch or something else that prevents the computer from bringing up the autorun file. 2. My computer KNOWS how much I want to play this game, and has decided to screw me at the last minute. Any and all help would be appreciated, as I am in the process of gettnig my money back for this rip-off as I type this. Thanks, -Mustang
I can't help, sorry. I feel sad for you. Your disk must know...this is stuff you only hear/see about in the movies.
That sucks... I never trust purchasing things that need to be delivered to you... then you have one hell of a time trying to contact the carriers to get an exchange... Tip# 1: Always purchase your games, computer components, etc. in a walk-in store. You can then give it to Customer Service for another one. If you can't contact the carriers, then look for a disc cleaner. Most of them suck, but you could get one for about $50 that should do the job.
Problem is, KOTOR is in barely ANY stores anymore, as it came out four years ago... I get almost all of my games off of EBay or Half EBay. Typically, they're brand new, not used on Half. Grr. Don't want to wait another week, as I have to order a completely different one, but oh well.
