Hello, I have been trying to play KOTOR and installed from my brother's disks. I downloaded the patch from lucas arts to update it to 1.03 and got a no cd crack for GCW (because my brother needed the actual play disc). Whenever I try to launch the game, the screen goes black, the mouse pointer turns into the cursor for the game, then I get a "this program has encountered a serious problem and needs to close to prevent damage to your system" error. Any help in relieving this problem so i could actually play this wonderful game would be greatly appreciated :)
Okay, two things... "We don't support illegal copies or cracks here" is the first and the second one is "Your game most likely doesn't work because you got that rubbish". Go figure.
i just wanted to inform you of the current state of my attempting to play, the same thing happens when i use the actual play disc.
Without installing that crack first?
Well,KOTOR only works properly on XP,well,if you have the fitting parts. because it didn't work for me on Vista or Windows 7
Graphic card drivers can also play a big part in running both KotORs. Newer ones sometimes make them crash.
it's not installed, just an alternate launcher (.exe) that removes the CD authentication bit. So no, when I had the play CD i was not using the no-cd launcher, but the simple fact that the game ever starts to launch (as indicated by the graphics changing for the cursor) exonerates the no-cd crack.
Uhm... no. It doesn't at all.
how so? Also, when looking to rollback my drivers, is there a certain date-range i should be looking for?
Because, I don't know if that has come to your mind, that crack might not be able to start all parts of the game (which, in my opinion, is a good thing, any way you slice it).
