Anybody have any idea how to fix this: greatgq4.jpg

All the textures for walls/landscapes are like the ones you see in the background, this happens with KOTOR1/2. I believe it has something to do with my graphics card, I've had it happen with 2 different ones however. Both my old Geforce 6100 and now my Geforce 8600 GT render the game like this. It's fully playable but I would really prefer I didn't have to play it like this =/

I managed to fix it the last time I installed the game by hooking my old Geforce 5500 up, loading the game (Where the textures were correct, on the 5500) and then turning it off putting in the 8600 and starting it again (For some reason the textures were now right)

I believe it's because the game doesn't recognize the GO8 series Graphics Cards as part of the minimum/required graphics and thus doesn't know what to do with it, but I don't know what to do about that. If theres some way to force the game the think my graphics card is a different one or something it would hopefully fix it.

Any input would help greatly

Umm. have you downloaded any mods recently?

Because that looks completely like the mod:

Endar Spire Retexture/Weapons/Creatures Mod, Knights of the Old Republic 2 Downloads, Knights of the Old Republic 2 Mods

This looks like a problem I used to have on a few games when something was over heating in the computer, but that may not be the case for you.

How long is your computer usually running for before you play KoToR if at all?

Are your video card drivers up to date?

Also what are your system specs?

To reply #1: There are no mods on it, I JUST installed it, loaded the game and it looked like this. I thought it might be an error that they had patched so I then went to the patcher and had the game patched to 1.3 which still looked exactly like 1.0, same problem no fixing.

#2: I really don't think it has anything to do with overheating, the graphics card doesn't get over 55C at maximum load for 15-20 minutes straight. I can play Supreme Commander maximum settings 2AA without very much lag, I doubt KOTOR could produce anything close to that much processor useage.

My specs are as follows: Windows XP SP2 AMD Athlon 4000+ @ @2.6 ghz (Stock 2.4) (Doesn't go over 50C) DDR 400 ram (2x 512mb) C Drive: 500GB F Drive: 750GB Both SATA2 nVidia Geforce 8600 GT XXX Edition (XFX Brand) (Doesn't go over 55C) Drivers are up to date, Forceware 160.xx

The games System Specs Scan tells me that my graphics card isn't on the recommended gfx cards list, it tells me the same thing when I had the old 6100 in there. It may have something to do with the Geforce 8's running a different version of OpenGL or something, but I don't know anything about that either and so I couldn't really do anything about it.

I haven't had this problem on any other game and I've run MANY that take a tonnnn better system then KOTOR requires.

Very weird considering your specs . Hopefully someone will be able to help you out.

The only thing I could recommend is rolling back your video drivers to see if that helps. It might not but you never know until you try, stranger things have happened with some of my other games with stuff that would seem completely pointless to try that ended up fixing it in the process.

I'll try that Eisen, though I hope it doesn't have anything to do with it. I've noticed with some programs it won't recognize the 1xx Forceware drivers, I might have to try to rollback to 93.xx since thats the only Sub-100.xx drive that supports Geforce 8...I hope not.

Wow that sucks, there is one last thing you could try though: For me, playing in my monitors native resolution doesn't work properly on KoTor it completely blacks out, so I went to the next resolution down and that fixed the problem, once again though I'm not sure if this will work or not, but anythings worth a go if nothings fixed it so far. Here's hoping someone comes along with some proper help if it doesn't work.

I wish it was something that simple. I've tryed setting the resolution from 800x600 - 2000x1500. I've tryed setting AA from 1-8 AF From 1-8, gone through most of the settings in the config.ini so I think it's just that it won't recognize the way my card renders things, since DX10 cards render things slightly differently. I'm just going to have to dig my Geforce FX5500 out of whever I put it. It can play this game well enough, on medium/low gfx...Meh
