Is there a way to turn off the language in KOTOR? (My little brother(4 years of age) wishes to play KOTOR) If so how? Help is appreciated. Thanks.

You do realise allowing someone so young to play a game like KotOR would be a completely bad idea in any scenario.... right?

Lemme put it in simpler terms. Age ratings aren't random numbers, and if I were rating KotOR, I'd probably rate it at a 15+ as opposed to a 12+. Only reason it got so low is because it doesn't graphically depict any of the darker elements of it's subject matter.

Hell, HK-47's constantly encouraging you to randomly kill people is enough for me to advise not giving it to anyone under 18. But then again, that's probably because virtually all the teenagers I've met have the IQ of a cheeseburger, so maybe my sample isn't as stratified as it could be....

I don't think a game suggesting that torture, interrogations, theft and murder are smart things to do, is something someone with a young, undeveloped and heavily influencable mind should be playing.

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

Good points Kouen, though I would add the storyline is complex enough to have even 20-something guys misreading and misunderstanding it. I don't think all kids are stupid, but I do think exceptional individuals are just that: exceptional... regardless of age. If your little brother has enough juice to understand the storyline, proccess its information in a socialy and behavioraly correct manner, as well as managing to finish it game-wise, then I see no problem. However, the majority is that, a majority. If he's a normal kid, don't make him jump into something he's not ready for.

this is just my personal opinion, but i don't think a four year old should be playing a game like KOTOR, i think you shouldn't let him play until he is old enough to know the real differences between a game and reality, like if you kill someone in a game, you can load a save and they'll be right back, in real life you can't do that, in a game if you die you can load a save and you can start where you left off basicly, again in real life, that doesn't work, a four year old probably isn't old enough to understand those concepts yet, my little cousin is six and even though he understands those things, i wouldn't let him play kotor, i would say 10 is about the absolute minimum age for kotor, and i agree with a lot of what Kouen says, the ratings are there for a reason, they aren't there just to look pretty

The game was meant for teenagers and above. This is shown in both content and gameplay. If it's simply the idea of playing a star wars game that appeals to your brother, get him Lego Star Wars or something. Or perhaps Star Wars Pod Racer.

My brother is very mature for his age and understands that concept. I just don't think that it is good for him to be influenced by bad language. he has played the godfather etc so I don't think that torture scenes will stir him up. If you consider that most people stop playing games around the age of 25, then why get a game at the age of 18, seems pointless. Anyway, is there a "mod" that takes the Language out? If not it's fine, guess I'll have another lecture from my little brother on how I shouldn't play KOTOR at the age of 15.=p

I'm also having trouble with a problem on Taris. I try to go down the elevator in the lower city that leads to the bottom levels (where I have to find the wookie) except a Microsoft 'don't send/send error report' error pops up. I have tried uninstalling and loading the new patch.:bawl:Any clue why? Isn't there a mod that skips Taris?:Puzzled:

You're against your 4 year old brother seeing obscenities, but not seeing torture scenes...?

So..... You're afraid of him picking up on bad language, but yet letting him watch a torture scene is fine? Wow.

As for the error message, do your specs meet the minimum requirements?
