Hello.

I was wondering if anyone knows how one could do more then one Kotor instalment on the same computer.

The reason I asked this is because I forgot to make a backup of the original override file before installing Shem's awesome "Ultimate Sound Mod For Both Kotor And TSL" and I would like to go back to my old power up sabre sounds without having to lose my ongoing game. So far when I tried to reinstall, it doesn't show up the option to make a new install independently of me starting setup manually or going through autoplay.

If this isn't possible (to have more then one instalment on my pc) I would appreciate if someone could give me a hint how I can get my hands on the WAV files from the cd's cause I really don't have any clue.

Thank you for your time.

If you mean to uninstall, and then reinstall, then yes you can. I have lost count of how many times I have had to do that for a similar reason.

My problem with unistalling and reinstalling is that I wouldn't want to lose my current ongoing saved game. So my idea was making a second install, just to reach those WAV files. then uninstall the second install.

It would be best not to have more than one install on the same computer at the same time. That just takes up good space, slows everything down, and confuses all of your KOTOR-related tools. The only way that I would aprove of such an action is if your hard drive is partitioned in two, and only if one is almost empty. The empty one is where you should make the second installation. But regardless of the above method, I still recommend you just uninstall and reinstall the old-fashioned way. When you uninstall, you have the option of fully uninstalling, or keeping your configuration settings and game saves. If you click on the option to keep them, then you can transfer them to a USB drive so that they will be safely intact when you reinstall the game. You could also transfer the save folder before you uninstall the game. The saves folder is located at “C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic\saves.” When you reinstall, just make sure that you put the save folder back where it belongs.
