right, i just got my kotor (frm best of starwars pack) freshly installed on my new vista llaptop and the game works fine, and i have downloaded various mods and successfully put thm into the Override, but when playing unusual results happen with skin mods, the skin doesnt show properly but comes out white or invisible, but when iewing mod closely, like in a cutscene, u can see it showing through, for example the sormptroopers in the stormtrooper conversion mod look white but when upclose they texture shows through. most apreciated if ANY one could shine some liht on the matter as i got kotor 1 on PC to try mods. thnks. (also sorry 4 the long speech x)
Well, my version of KotOR is the BoPC version, too, but it's on an XP Pro machine, and not a Vista laptop, so I'd say it's either the Vista or the laptop that's giving you a problem. But I have no real idea what I'm saying, so don't take my word for it. It's just the textures, right? Like, a change in dialog or something works for you? On a side note, if you think this is bad, wait until you try finding mods for the version of EAW that came with Best of PC. That'll drive you nuts. EDIT: Now that I look around, KotOR 2 apparently has problems with Vista, but I haven't heard of KotOR 1 not liking it.
yes, i have heard around the web of having different problems with laptop video cards or compatability with vista, but yes all other mods works fine like, recruting different NPCs, skipping taris mod, and the textures are there, but seem to be conflicting with with some thing or its not properly accepting thm, very odd

Do not try to overload your lap top with too many mods. Take it from me. My set's vidcard is not necessarily enough to handle KotOR II, but it does well. Unless I overload the system with complex mods. Then it just screws the graphics all to hell and then I find myself throwing out good mods and keeping my favorites and having to sacrifice (I played the full HK Factory restoration, but it didn't let me do Coruscant) those cool mods for ones that wouldn;t screw my system. My advice? Get in touch with veteran modders and see who is modding for Windows Vista. It might take some time before someone like Darth333 gets to Vista, but look around some of the other modding sites. In any case, good luck and play on. Life is too short to play the game the developers package. Besides, you don't really think that the developers and the test teams just play these games straight, do you?
