I think that part of bao's remote said it all " IF your hearing this I need you to activate shadow generators" I forget the exat words sorry. But that message in the remote basicly said IF you are hearing it means I am dead. I always thought of TSL'S Party Members as the fellowship of the ring, Stay with on this. At Malachor V they were scattered & lost when they crashed landed. So Bao-Dur's death wasn't that suprising to me. Simply because of that holo message in the remote of bao-dur

juggalo og;4937400here's my theory. Maybe he died on the cut planet, m4-78. I once read a rumor somewhere that he died on this planet... Would anyone like to expand on my theory? If so, have at it. I only say that he posibly died there not only because of the rumor i read, but because his death is a mystery. And so is the planet...

Necromancy is bad!

No, Bao Dur is an important character in the game so if he died they would definitely show how he died. From what I know, Bao Dur can be recruited in the party until The Exile, Mandalore and Visas come aboard The Ravager so he didn't die before that. And when they got back the Exile leaves ASAP after meeting Carth for Malachor. So this is what I deduce:If he died during the battle of Telos while the Exile was aboard the Ravager then when he got back some party member should have said something like:"Bad news, Bao died" or "I'm sorry Exile, Bao Dur died defending...something".So that didn't happen. If he died during the crash then I don't think he had time to do all that recording, and even standing while talking and as far as I noticed the Ebon Hawk was pretty much in, pardon me, shitty shape. Also I played the mod in the HK factory and Bao is not there and has nothing to do with the factory. And Kreia was never able to read his thoughts so she didn't know anything about that matter. So my conclusion is that the producers of the game saved him for KOTOR III and depending on the player's choice there, for example:If the players followes the bright side Bao lives, and if he follows the dark side Bao dies.
