Ah, I see. And yea, there not complete forms themselves. Well, Jar'Kai is, actually. It was actually the other way around; Niman was developed from Jar'Kai, as well as four of the other forms. There's also Lus-ma, which we know nothing about, but which I assume is double-bladed form of Jar'Kai, and Sokan, which is really just using terrain to your advantage (but it has a few other things), and some other one used by Jedi that can fly (iike Maw, and to some degree Yoda, I guess). And then there are the New Jedi Order's forms, which are really just rehashed versions of the classic forms that Kyle Katarn made up. Yes, Kyle is so high and mighty as to create not one but three forms on his own. :p (Actually, it was based on stuff he learned at the Imperial Academy, which probably was based on the traditional saber forms.)

Oh, and if anyone is interested...I'm working on a mod to incorporate the forms into K1. Yes, I know it's been done, but I'm making my own version, and I'm going to include the four force forms and three special forms as well (Jar'Kai, Lus-ma, and Sokan).

You remember Ben Stein in Ferris Beuller's Day Off? Yeah, that's you on this subject.... Anyway, buddy...you're the one getting your SW geek on. I tried to answer the question as short and precise as I could, but ya had to go off on it, didn't ya? :p You are right about Niaman, though. It was developed after the Jedi encountered the Jar'Kai warriors with their 2 bladed wapon fighting style. And you are right about the 3 styles of Skywalker's New Jedi Order, but that's not relevant to the Old Republic, though one must say that it pays homage to the Old Republic Jedi Knights of Luke's daddy's era. And today we seem to be answering each other's reply posts, so TAG! You're it!

 Yes, I had to get my SW geek on. :p And yeah, the three styles of Luke's order are completely irrelevant, aren't they?

PS: You're it! :p

I'm starting a new post for SW gamers only because of this and calling it Tag! You're it! So you'd better look for it in the SW General Discussions. Tag, You're it.

Yes Vapaad had it's origins in another form, but it's also a unique form, in that it assists, if you will, in controlling the "Dark" side of the Force. If I remember right, from Shatterpoint, the book, that vapaad was an aggresive technique that focuses the mind, and the Force, to prevent the user from falling to, or being consumed by the Dark side. Also, it's Mace's knowledge of the Force, and ability to see things through the Force, that helped him adapt, and create, Vapaad. The book is good in furthering the explanation behind it's creation. As a user in the Force, Mace Windu could see shatter points that would affect people, places, things like that. Anyway, being able to see these glimpses of the future, and the adaptation of vapaad, assisted Mace into becoming a Master.

Juyo does all those things too. :p

Seriously, there's absolutely no difference between them that we know of at the moment. I think authors have been too afraid to give more details because of what happened the last dozen times they tried to. :p

Darth Dracon;4354415The 7 lightsaber forms are: Form I: Shii-Cho, "Way of the Sarlacc" Form II: Makashi, "Way of the Ysalamir" Form III: Soresu: "Way of the Mynock" Form IV: Ataru, "Way of the Hawk-Bat" Form V: Shien/Djem So, "Way of the Krayt Dragon" (Djem So is more of the aggressive dark side form) Form VI: Shien: "Way of the Rancor" Form VII: Juyo/Vaapad, "Way of the Vornskr" or "Ferocity Form" (Vaapad was developed by Mace Windu. It's development resulted in his promotion to Jedi Master.)

In TSL there is no Vaapad, it's still just Juyo. No Mace Windu after all...... Because Juyo was regarded as a largely incomplete Lightsaber Form, Windu used it as the basis for creating his stance Vaapad, thus effectively completing Juyo.

Still, however incomplete it may have been, it still didn't stop it being used to great effect.

Btw Form VI is Niman, not a repetition of Shien.... just thought I'd remind you to take care when typing :P

As for Jar'kai..... it's time for "useless" info! Originally Jar'Kai was a combat form that pre-dated Lightsabers, and was a form of dual-wielding combat, traditionally with Jar'Kai duelling blades (one in each hand).

In X-Wing: Alliance, one of the "trophies" you can find aboard the Otana is a set of Jar'Kai duelling blades which were a gift from Emon after one of the missions ingame. The blades of the swords were shaped much like a cutlass, with a serrated cutting edge the full length of the blade.

I think Dracon knows that. ;) As I said earlier, there wasn't any Djem So either. No Shien (#2), either. Yes, there actually is a second Shien. :p (Who approved that? Idiots... :p)

And techincally there was vapaad at the time of KotOR. No, not Vapaad--vapaad. Eh? "Carter's being cryptic again", you say? :p Due to a slight oversight by Mr Karpyshyn, "vapaad" has been retconned as another word for "juyo", the animal for which the form is named after. Though the form wouldn't be know as "Vapaad" until the time of Bane, after which it would fall back to being called "Juyo" until Mace refined it into "Vapaad"...again. (Really, who approves of this crap? It's the Three Forms of Sith all over again. :p).

Yup. The swords were actually called "Jar'Kai", lending the name to the form.

Huh...didn't know that.

Hey Fyurii, Thanks for pointing out AGAIN that I messed up by putting shien twice. I already explained that I meant to type Niman but got too excited and typed too fast.
