So I have this idea...
While "The Old Republic" looks cool, I have few issues. First of all, I am one of those who hate MMOs. I don't like paying to play a game after I already bought it. I hate dealing with childish players. Plus, from the look of the GFX, I don't want to have to buy a whole new system to play it on.
Also, it jumps 100 years after the KOTOR games. I would like to see what happened to the characters I love.
SO I'm thinking of trying to get together a modding group for a TSL Total Conversion. The point being to make a sort of KOTOR 3 that ties Revan's return from the unknown regions to the story of the Exile. Also, a way to get rid of The Exchange, since they are not anywhere in the history after KOTOR. Maybe have them secretly be Sith-backed and Revan and the Exile have to take them down. Also, since canon has explicitly stated that there is no record of Revan returning, I look forward to coming up with a reason for Revan's return not being recorded. Maybe after helping reestablish the Jedi Council, he went on a self-imposed exile with Bastila or something. I'm talking a full-on TC with new voicework, scripting, and new bink animation. I would like to do two seperate storylines, one in which Revan meets with Bastila and Carth to take down Czerka and its Sith Sponsors, while we can shift to the Exile and her group fighting the Sith and Republic politics to bring back the Jedi. This would make up two segments of the game, then combine the two (possibly killing off or losing some of the secondary characters to get the party selections down to a decent size) for the finale.
Obviously, Lucasarts would be peeved if we named it KOTOR 3, so maybe the Revan's Return Mod or something like that.
Any thoughts for/against? Anybody experienced in modding who would be interested?
well i was a content DEV for a private server, im pretty good at skinning but i do not know if that is needed
Honestly, everything would be needed, as I am still learning myself. I think the big question is, is anyone out there good enough at TSL scripting that they could help us build a new storyline with maybe some new behaviors or force powers, etc.
I'm a good story writer if that has ANYTHING to do with this. In the event something needs to be cooked up I'm your man. Just let me know. If not, that's cool I'm just kind of throwing this out there, I did alot of storywriting for WoW Private servers and miscellanious other private servers on other games.

For TCs, story writing is the easy part. You're going to hit problems when it comes to modeling new areas. From what I can tell, not many modders can pull off modeling new areas.
Story is pretty much set. I'm writing it out in Novella form right now. Definitely plan on having some version of Korriban, Yavin IV, the Jedi Temple, and Nar Shaddaa in the TC, so there are at least a base to work those off of. I'm thinking of Ziost, the Sith Homeworld. Since it is all heavy forest, I think some of the Kashyyk stuff from KOTOR1 will work. Also need a large industrial complex for Czerka, which I think will just be added to the Jedi Temple via shuttle as part of the Coruscant stage. I think Mission and Zaalbar will have cameos, but not a true part. HK-47 is iffy for the TC. Honestly, I don't think it will be fun to have him without Tabori's hilarious voicework. (If anyone does a GREAT HK-47 impression, contact me, lol.) Carth and Bastila will be in, as well as Atton, Mira, Michal, Visas, Canderous and Juhani. Working on my modding skills at the moment.
Actually, instead of Ziost, I am thinking of Tython, the Jedi homeworld.

You can't use models from k1 and import them to K2 and vise versa. The modding community looks down on it, and besides that, it is illegal.
