Hey, There's been one post in this forum, is the KotoR 2 modding community none existant?

There can be alot of mods which are possible with KotoR 2, I believe if people just took the time to learn they would find themselves creating things to be proud of.

the established modding community does not want to have anything to do with other forums than their own. the kotor forums are inactive because we have been effectively boycotted by lucas forums and their modders.

then maybe if some of the filefront users become inspired to use this forum as their own, I understand your perspective, but all it takes is inspiration to become a modder. Inspiration and possibly independance / patience.

It's hard for folks to learn to mod without support from the established community. It's possible... but it will just take longer. Be patient, and support the infant community we have ;)

Hey all. Just saw Star Wars Ep 3- (Best Star Wars of them all imo) and I've been inspired to make my own story RPG based on Star Wars themes. Thought it might be easier to start with KOTOR to mod as it should be simple to just change maps, storyline/quests, convo etc. I would have thought based on modding in other engines. Its a pity there isn't the KOTOR material in morrowind or something or that the NVN editor doesnt work for KOTOR. So far I have found zero info on modding KOTOR on the net (and the lucasforums is down) so yeah I'm trying to pick up the modding myself. Only issue is the KOTOR Tool doesn't work for me (I dont have kotor installed anymore, ie the folder exists and the game is playable but no registry entries are installed) and yeah. Just thought I'd introduce myself and ask if there is any help available for new modders.

Cheers

http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=124284 Try this thread once LucasForums is back up. As for KotOR tool...

KotOR Tool HomepageYou need to have the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 installed to use Kotor Tool. You can get it here.

I believe you'll also need KotOR installed to use KotOR tool. It kind of makes sense...

Ah that is a shame, hmm... not really, I was about selling my Xbox version KotOR II to get the pc version (so I can start modding it) but now that you have mentioned that I need to get the spyware-magnet AKA Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, I will keep my KotOR II for Xbox. =p

meh the tool shouldnt need kotor installed. As long as I point it to the kotor directory where all the files are it shouldnt need registry entries but it does so meh. I think Ive already given up modding kotor due to the lack of support/fanbase anyway.

If the reason why you were going to start modding a game is because support/fanbase you will soon feel dissapointed, always mod for yourself, not for some idiotic kids on a forum.
