How many of us Star Wars fans (and the KOTOR fanbase in particular) would play a new Star Wars MMO, based around the timeframe of KOTOR and TSL? Would we want to? Would we be willing to part with money for something like this? The reason I ask is simple. By far and large, the most prevelant rumours regarding this as yet unknown MMO project by Bioware and Lucas Arts, is that it will be a KOTOR MMO. Will it indeed be a KOTOR MMO? Would we play it? Would we pay to play it? Your votes! Your opinions! I want to hear them! (Not too loudly though, terrible hangover at the moment:lol:)

Not a chance, they don't have a high-speed internet connection where I live *shrug* only dial up... couldn't play a Jedi-god-modding thick game if I wanted to

Not a good idea. The only thing that would be different from SWG would be a different era.

The pros and cons of a KOTOR MMO can be best described in the form of pictures. 'Cuz they say 1,000 words.

Spoiler: Show
Pros:
  • topnav_biowarecorp_blue.gif
  • logo.jpg
  • MMOS ARE F***ING AWESOME. (My apologies, couldn't find an image for this one...)
Cons:
  • 200px-Ealogo.svg.png
  • 120px-US_Silvercert1.jpg
  • Star_Wars_Galaxies_Box_Art.jpg
  • Bad storyline (couldn't find an image for this one...)
  • 200px-Ealogo.svg.png (Worth putting down twice)

I think that, if BioWare was to overcome the cons and produce an excellent game (preferably with no monthly fees), I'd definitely buy and play it as if I were a 30-year old geek playing WoW in his mom's basement.

What'd be the point? The "gameplay" would probably consist of grinding endlessly for experience points, which in turn rewards you with the right to grind for more experience points. Then, when you hit max level, you get to enjoy weekly content updates - which basically consist of grinding through a three-hour instance of nothing but clicking on enemies - just to get this week's new sword/axe/staff/lightsaber/whatever, which you need in order to be able to PvP because the devs made it so powerful that last week's gear is completely useless against the new stuff, thus forcing you to do the instances so they can turn around and say "No new content? We just gave you a massive area, what more do ya want!?".

Plus, it's probably all bugged and will result in downloading 27mb hotfixes every time you login for the next three days.

And be careful of the occasional patch which decides to delete your boot.ini file or shut down your firewall completely rather than just asking for internet access. Those are nasty!

Well, OK, those are worst-case scenarios, but you get the idea....

Until any new MMORPGs prove that they' don't follow the same old tired standard with cold, hard gameplay (preferably in the form of a free trial), then they're guilty until proven innocent. It may seem harsh, but it's a necessary defense these days.

Gaming Survival Rule #1: Don't sign up for nothin' until you've participated in a free trial.

I learned that at the expense of $375. And the bottom line is, not one of the six MMORPGs I tried for a month possessed anything even remotely resembling 'gameplay'.

I don't know how, and I don't know why, but this is totally Sheep's fault.

When they come out with a MMORPG that actually involves any RPG'ing I'll actually try to find some high speed dialup. But since all the MMORPG's I've seen involve is attacking so and so dark lord with such and such weapon and finding this and that item in the hopes you don't die before these and those save points.

Thats crazy Bioware's version of swg if they were allowed to make it would be done right, not like swg cu/nge was. to say it would be the same is not fair to bioware, look what they did with single player rpg's those two alone without multiplayer are far better than anything soe could come up with.
