Why do you think Kotor 1 was better than Kotor 2 or vice versa. (I don't want to see anything like: Because K2 was rushed out)

I cant say one was better than the other because there were highs and lows of both games. The Highs on KOTOR 1 was the amazing story and uniqueness, when you find out you are Revan that catches you off guard, and the story is drawn together nicely. However, K1 has stupid looking Jedi Robes and character stories aren't very deep as they are in K2. KOTOR 2 has good story and many plot developments with every character, the game runs more smoothly and they look more authentic compared to the movies, but the story is incomplete and questions still need to be answered. KOTOR 2 has great character development, prestige classes, and influence system is very unique. The story ends with everyone wondering "what the f**k happened? Is that it?" So both have there high and lows, the perfect KOTOR would be bioware's story coupled with Obsidian's gameplay and character development.

i like bioware game play alot. i mean dont get me wrong i love influencing my party and getting a prestige class but my game froze alot and saves were curopted in k2 never had that problem in k1. k2 has 2 difficulties easy and hard . k1 has the not easy not hard game play going for it. 1 thing i could about both games is they need 2 be longer. and when kotor game the game ends unlike the free roaming games that are out 2 day (gta elder scrolls phantsy star etc)

I don't have much in the way of a favorite. Both games were incredible work, but I cannot decide. K1 had the better music, harder battles (it was not very easy for me to survive), and it had a great storyline. K2 had a lot more places to go, more party members, and deeper back stories to the characters. I miss the old members, but the new ones were nice too. The Exile also gets more powers, LIGHTSABER STYLES, and can be level 50, and not 20. The robes look right, too. The downside to it is that the enemies are somewhat easy (minus the various times when they attack en masse), and the music was not quite as good. Korriban was plainly freaky in my opinion. The ending was a bit incomplete, and it would be nice to have a bit after the end, like a short bit of going to the unknown regions, and maybe a bit more after that. Overall, K2 might be just an inch ahead, but no more.

I have to say that K2 was better than K1...if and only if it was completed/is restored. K2 had a better story, or would have if it hadn't been rushed. Game mechanics were vastly improved - workbench, lab station, switch weapons, influence, non-restricting armor, etc. A few of the characters were more interesting. The game was a lot darker than K1. It was also more realistic and personal: instead of finding Star Maps and fighting evil, you're trying to figure out what happened to you, or if DS take the ultimate revenge. Some of the quests were: some guy just tried to kill me, nice security you got here...and by the way, do you have any work available for an ex-Jedi?; well, the planet surface is restricted, but those idiots did let my ship get stolen; I'm in trouble for parking in a reserved space, let's just blame it on the guy who said I stole his ship; why don't we forge the ship's ID signature so the Sith stop following us?; ok, put on this dancer's outfit and let's go rob this hutt blind, etc. And a lot of other stuff as well, but most of it was cut. :(

Wook said my mind. K1 had great story, great surprises, quests. And K2 had been more in way of character development and reactions of characters to actions and their change according to them... I tottaly agree that there should have been some free roaming after both games to glance trough what you achieved by finishing the game. K2 is very good in all matters except ending and some quests that couldn't have been done. K1 was fine in all matters except 20lvl cap I found a bit frustrating. Music was cool in both kotors but I agree K1s was better.
