I didn't even realise it had been released until today where I had a look through, to be honest it's nothing special and it seems like the sort of army that takes ages to make a list to with a tonne of special rules (especially tzeentch ones) but the thing that I don't like is you can't ally some units to chaos space marines...which seems a bit silly.

Onto positives, some lovely looking models, especially the new khorne stuff I really like the new flesh hounds and a defilery type thing called a soul grinder which looks fantastic.

Just wondered what your thoughts were on them?

I've read the UK White Dwarf Battle report and seen a few profiles: BEARDY!

Sorry for the double post (computer error) Daemonettes are just sick (though the models aren't that great) as they have rending and 2 attacks basic! they are ALL immune to instant death of ALL types (Librarians are a waste of points now) The Soul Grinder is just nasty (13, 12, 10) as it can have a 24" railgun or a S7 AP3 Ordinance blast that rolls to hit (OW!) Tzeench Screamers are now jetbikes with meltabombs, and once per game, Flamers may use a flamethrower attack that wounds on a 4+, AP1 Half the army deep strikes on turn 1, with the rest turning up as reserves (bring a Vindicator!), so very unpleasent! Someone will undoubtedly work out how to counter them (*cough* VINDICATOR *cough*), but I think the list is a little unbalanced, and I am disappointed the only way to include Trator Legions is to play an Apocalyse type game (I expected a Daemonhunters type alliance).

It's normally associated with "power gamers" who just simlpy try and make the most powerful combinations possible to the point where it takes someone with an equally "bearded up" army to defeat them (most common in tournaments) In the context of army books, this is where the stupidly powerful stuff has been done for the powergamers, meaning that there are undoubtedly even worse hidden combinations that someone will work out and be invincible (until the next beardy army comes out)

It's the like the ability to have 6 landraiders, someone will do it someday ;)

I'm not really sure about this codex, it just feels a little unessacary to have an entire book devoted to daemons, it doesn't have the same feel as a proper race really it's just a branch off from chaos. Just reading through it, like when I read the ork one it's a little comedic and makes you think "yeah this race is awesome I want some" but this one seems a little too dark for my liking.

this is why the deamon hunters were invented though they do sound abit over powered but the deamon hunters should make it equal

erm...no Remember, your Force Weapons are now useless (immune it instant death) and if you take a single Grey knight, most of his army gains Sustained Assualt, which given how unbelievably beardy the daemons are now, is suicidal! Sorry mate, the Grey Knights are now nerfed BIG time

Bah, any mission other than Meat Grinder the sustained assault just means more targets,

"Daemons returned to play are not summoned(they re-enter the table from the edge as detailed in the Sustained Assault rules) and do not count towards (Direct quote of next word, no typing error)Vicory points, cannot claim mission objectives, table quarters, etc." With Destroy Daemon

(used at beginning of assault phase, if psychic test is passed the character can re-roll any rolls to hit or wound daemons for the rest of the turn), And with Psycannons and Incinerators (Str 6 AP 4 No invulnerables and Str 5 AP 4 no Invulnerable or cover saves in that order), the Anointed Weapon(counts as power weapon and always wounds daemons on 4+, And 2D6 armour penetration against Possessed Vehicles and Possessed Dreadnoughts),

And last(of the truly great DH weapons on this list), the Daemonhammer (Thunder hammer, but if fighting a Daemon the Daemonhunter strikes in Initiative order) They really get a lot of power, plus the Grimoire of True Names halves the WS of any Daemons on base contact of whoever has it.

Oh yes, remember the shrouding(3d6 x3, if less than the distance to the target, they cannot fire), the aegis(works as the psychic hood does), and the holy horrors of an Ordo Malleus Orbital Bombardment.

I would go on but i've already bored at least one person so much that they've stopped reading and walked off, so basically, just because the new Daemons are immune to instant death doesn't mean the Daemonhunters can't still tear their forces limb from horribly mutated and tentacled limb.
