alright im tired of you guys spamming the dow II thread with useless bullcrap that is not even relevant to the thread. so you guys debate about your fear stuff here, not there.
When they say "Squad Broken!" What they really mean is "Oh noes, the chapter's Ice Cream has been stolen from the armoury so we'll sprint back, reducing our accuracy in the process but in turn, be able to get back and deal with this travesty"
If you dare imply the word 'fear' crosses their minds, you're gonna get Exterminatusfied.
in the codecs, no. after breaking moral in one turn the turn after they will simply turn back around and charge. in DOW though they do, to balence the game engine mainly.
Lawls, this thread. Space Marines obviously feel fear, they're just trained to overcome it.
Fear?? Thats heresy man! "We shall know no fear" is one of the sm honor codes ore something isnt it? I think in DOW2 the morale of marines schould be really really high, all that brainwashing had got to be good for something
well their moral cant be too high, otherwise they would be as strong as terminators are in DOW SS / DC
They know fear...except they are hard to scare. Their fear is supposed to change into rightous fury that's why "we shall know no fear"
depends what chapter your on about, there is few chapters that experience no fear at all, like the legion of the damned theyve been lost in the warp, how long no body knows, but here out and rampaging under the command of the emporer, or like the the flame falcos, but they were oblitarated by the inquistion, just becuase in a battle they burst into fire and fought withut any causlatys. they said it was the emporers doing inqustion thought elswise.but it is roumered they still live on(yay)
it really depends on the chapter, since they each have diffrent fears. another example, ultramarines hate tyranids to the marrow and they fear not them.
Oh and just to get this clear, none of a space marines implanted organs or in there creation, changes there emotions. there daily rituals might have somthing with there, emotions.
2345 Free Time Some Chapter Masters view this period of free time as an unwarranted luxury at best and a dangerous distraction at worst. It is maintained in most Chapters out of reverence for the Codex Astartes and Roboute Guilliman's words. "Consider (the) magnitude of your duty at your leisure, but act without hesitation when (action) is required." In honor of this Space Marines are permitted a short period of leisure each day to consider the magnitude of their duty to the Emperor. and maybe there prayer times. link to creation of a space marine:GW Online : Warhammer 40,000 : Space Marines : Creation of A Space Marine link to there daily rituals:GW Online : Warhammer 40,000 : Space Marines : Daily Rituals of the Adeptus Astartes
they do feel fear, but as scotzmen said it varies from chapter to chapter, just remember that space marines are super HUMAN, ultimately there still human, even chaos marines feel fear, and in the codex there was a very small story about some space marines breaking down with fear just before they were killed, and guess who it was? The outsider!, the outsider can show you you death in a million ways, and cause you to hear your death scream 10 fold, this was all into the first couple codex of the necrons, I guess they took that out because they didint want to loose sales with sm since they are there games workshops main attraction. It didnt say exactly what it showed the sm but it must have been something hell of scary, There also used to be a story where a chapter of sm landed on the planet were the outsider is and some imperial fleet passing buy got a terrible realy from the last of the sm crying out with fear. the story was creepy as hell but i cant find it anymore, and it was in an official book. what makes me think though was why would the outsider be in the first nec codex's (cant remember which) but all of a sudden just dissapear and never be reintroduced by games workshop?
Personally, as I stated in the DoW2 thread, I believe that they do. Genetically enhanced, yes. However everything 'Sentient' has a fear of something. Space Marines, even though they're genetically enhanced, are still sentient, and can think for themselves. Therefore, based on that conclusion, they do fear. They may not fear a Squad of Orks, or an Eldar Farseer, but they may fear a Chaos God, and would undoubtedly fear the wrath of the Inqusistion should they fail their duty, and / or fail the Emperor. Everything has fear. Eldar fear the Necrons, Tau fear Evil (hence them fighting for the greater good), Chaos probably fear the Emperor. Hell, it *may* even be that the Chaos Gods fear each other? We may all laugh at that, but I doubt they'd want to clash on too many occasions.
