I had a strange thought the otherday, doesnt it say marines are armed with bolters, but in the summary sheet it says quite clearly 'boltgun'.
So I decided to check this, and sure enough space marine squads,
I check the summary sheet,
boltgun, 24", AP 5, rapid fire.
I then check the entire wargear section, and indeed most of the codex for rules for a weapons called a 'bolter', however none exist, so technically space marines are armed with no weapons altogether, except if you upgrade them to heavy/special weapons.
Those who own a compy of the most recent edition of the space marine codex check for yourself, you'd be surprised, now i'm proabably being over pedantic, but wouldn't it be funny the next time your space marines opponant tries to fire his bolters and you bring up this hitch?
Sorry if I make anyone angry (disclaimer)
But it says 'boltgun' not 'bolter' In reality rules for the bolter doesn't exist, however there are rules for the boltgun, but no marine is armed with one, (even wargear lists say bolter).
Marines are listed with bolters, the codex has no reference to a bolter, but in the summary sheet it has boltgun
Boltguns and bolters are one and the same A bit silly really but thats how it is
Funny and well spotted DIAB...But "Bolter" is most likly is a "boltgun" just probly what the troops call them...But still next time I play my friends Marines I'll bring it up and see what he says...Should be a good laugh!
I'm well aware that the boltgun is another name for bolter, however that's not actually stated anywhere, and rules are rules so you can't just make assumptions like that.
Also, i'll have a check of the chaos codex if I can get my hands on one, might have the same thing in there.
(DISCLAIMER:I'm sorry if i've offended any marine players with this, if i have it was unintentional)
I guess Bolter is marine slang for the Boltgun But then again you don't have a heavy Boltgun. You have a heavy Bolter. :uhoh: Oh my brain
