im not dissin 40k in anyway here but does anyone think that people that play 40k have kinda lost the point. it used be a few people that enjoyed the hobby and/or backgrounds. but now its thousend of people that will do anything to win e.g cheating. yes it's commpetetive... but in a good way it used to be fun but now its hard to find a fair, honest and fun opponent
I find the problem is when you go to ask all the new people if they want a game of 40k or fantasy, they reply with, 'can i use my Ents'. It seems all new players want to do is play LOTR!!!!
I think ur right. Me and my friends used to play for fun, but now almost all the time they accuse me of cheating (which i dont, by the way), and its really getting annoying. There are now only a few who i can have a nice fun game with now.
I like 40K alot I have two armies a chaos 1,600 pts and a Necron army 2,000pts (I want to sell, more money for my Chaos army), but when I've played it's to a disavantage of I forget what my men are equiped with.
I dont think 40k will ever lose its point for years to come, and even if it does happen people will still play and more players will start bringing friends and family along for the ride if possible. And I dont think anyone wants to just give up on that army or armies they spent half their life and most of their money to make. I'm new and have an army of space marines somewhere over 1500 points and I think its hard to remember everything your men are equipped with. I haven't played any games other than the ones I've played with friends and family who don't have armies so I split up my space marines or let them use the 40 something tyranids I have and try to teach them what I know (usually I just play alone). I plan to go to a store sometime this week(end) and play an intro game because they're getting fitted into clothes for a wedding and it gets very boring. So far the only thing I dont really understand is assaults so I plan to get that figured out and see if I'm doing everything right so far.
i find that as well i could only get a gd fair game with my friend nd now doesnt collect anymore.....why did it have to change?
so im right people who cheat and play unfairly have pretty much ruined 40k for all of us fair players
I don't really see how you can cheat without it being completely obvious, there's no way you can. And GW games have always had the little kids who will be anything to win, pick the people you play with better.
The cake is a lie. There is no cake.

I collected LOTR stuff (before it got out of hand and the expansions after the third film made it pointless and not fun to play anymore...I always played the baddies :D). Someone once cheated by using a loaded dice against me. Shame it didn't work and I ended up beating them, but it did show that at least they had put some thought into how they might try and win (old tricks are the best, right?). However, whenever I wasn't playing a game, I could always see the 40K battles going on and they looked so much more fun then what we were doing. Complicated, but fun. I might ask somebody if I can borrow his well painted Eldar side and learn to play, because it did look really fun. There will always be cheaters in these sort of games, which is unfortuneate. However, you will always have the people who will whip their ass into shape and completely obliterate them :)
Im not saying anything bad about Lord of the Rings stuff (I have ALOT of stuff for it) im just saying its all the new people want to play, just because they think there Lotr's expert cause they watched the movies.
