40k: '99 The local mall sold it and they started a gaming club in one of the stores. (wasn't a GW store, more like a Wizards of the Coast) Fantasy: '06 Chaos looks awesome in Fantasy...just started a few weeks ago...hoping to get the new Rulebook sometime.
I got into 40k when i was about 8 or so.....back in the day...before it was called 40k i think. My dad used to get miniatures catalogues and i saw a pic of a Tyranid Warrior...old school style...and from then on i've been collecting. Never actually played the TT game but love painting and creating terrains.
It was a long way ago...in a far away suburb...:) We were teens and with some pals we decided to go in the RPG shop of the capital. Here, I bought some ugly looking figures to play with in "Space Opera" (A SF Role Playing Game from FGU) that a father's friend mastered for us. Those figures saw a game related to 'em arriving maybie 2 months later and a friend bought it and we were 3 upon it to try and translate it bit by bit. After 2 months of efforts, we got our first 40K Rogue Trader with motley squads battling one another. I remember fondly my sqaud od Space Marines with one or two Star Wars tin figures in it. I got the Land Speeder (Woa) we scratch built as White Dwarf shown and I lost it on my first turn. We didn't quite understand the rules well, I submit my LS to its move and its speed made him crash against the crashed Imperial Battleship (ok, the shoebox). We didn't understand that movement rules perfectly...
back in 95 when i was 10 or 11 i was in a antique shop of all places and they had this copy of space crusade, that somebody had sold or thrown out or something. Any way i had no idea how or why it was in a place that ususaly sells old tables chairs and books but i was transfixed with the space marines, and it was love at first sight.
For the love of all that is holy tell me you bought that game!...That's like the holy grail these days...only rarer! and if ya did i'll give twenty bucks for it....lol
i got into it 3 years ago, my freind was bring white dwarf to school so i borrowed one and my bro said lets start it, now i have 2 armys and a scorpian grav tank dont suppose you guys know of the death korps? if u do be amazed that i have 2500 points of em all steel legion models
but converted slightly and painted like the DKOK? cause if so that does sound very good.
I got into WH about 7/8 years ago, when I was in devon of all places. There was a tiny little toy shop, full of wierd and wondrful things, and there was a few boxes of warhammer. I was hooked instantly, finding out where the nearest shop was to me. I haven't been for a few years, but thats how I go into WH.
I guess when i was little i got something it might have been a catalogue or WD but, it scared me with the beastmen and daemons.( I was little!) When my friend took me to Games Workshop i remebered and started collecting the things( 40k only though lol). That one closed down a while ago and the close ones are far away or in bad neighbourhoods so it has kinda gurgled but, im starting to get back on trakk.
