ill be fighting some eldar next week with my necrons, i want to know how strong eldar phoenex lords are, and what unit on the necrons is best for killing them, thanks
necron warriors are good at beating the eldar ranged army, but swarms are useful for slowing down the eldar assault
phoenix lords, well, dont let it in cc
phoenix lords, well, dont let it in cc
Untrue, forgive me if i'm thinking of the wrong models :) But the Dark reaper pheonix lord will give you hell to pay if he isn't silenced quickly. I guess the best way of 'dispatching' him would be cc, but i'm not necron or eldar player so, uhh...Best of luck anyway :P
even the dark reaper lord, which is the ranged one, has 4 strength 7 attacks in CC, with a 3+ save and an awesome ranged weapon too. kill it at range before it kills you up close
I played a Eldar army with my templars on monday i got my arse handed to me.. They have a krak launcher Strength 10 AP 2.. and it bounced everywhere like a morta!. I would watch out for Eldar d cannons and they dirty bike tricks of hiding in and out of cover. Take infiltrating flayed ones and take a orb of thingy so you can be instant deathed. Mortals are good there like moving assault heavy bolters.
will eldar you want to get as many shooting units against them, they have alot of high initiative models (phoenix lord is initiative 7) so don't go to cc with them lots of destroyers and immortals with a bulk of warriors should be able to counter most of them, watch out for farseer's casting doom on your units too, or there'll be hell to pay...
How many points is it? i collect both armies so i could proabably advise you depeneding on point values.
Warriors, as much as you can get, and at least one monolith. The new Eldar tactic is to kill the enemy squad by squad to be the most effective. So if you have a large warrior squad and a Monolith which can re-roll We'll Be Back, you'd beat them in durability. Plus, more warrior means low phase out chance.
how many points are u playing
the pheonix lords are hard to kill so you want advanced infantry, but they are the least of your worries unless you are fighting allot of them, and what that guy said up there, you want as much shots as you can lay on them, but dont waste your fire on rangers or farseers, fleet of foot sucks. you probably want flayed since since they deep strike into battle and they have warp spiders wich now deep strike, monolith is good but most weapons can kill it, ctan is goot vs avatar and lots of stuff, and now the avatar can throw his sword allso.... They shoot allot. I MEAN ALLOT so I recomend good cover and bunkers, put your immortals or warriors behind it untill thier advanced units are dead. You may want pariahas to defend tomb spyder/necron lord in close combat and stuff. You will want viel of darkness and res orb, use viel of darkness on your destroyers so you can bring them behind thier lines with some flayed ones and rip apart thier units (destroyers are tough). Now remember, going arround cover and hiting them from behind helps me, as long as they cant shoot they are useless. and remember...... assasults/shooters/transports-MUST KILL THEM such as trans port tanks (falcons) assaults (banshees) shooters (dark reapers/warp spider) or comanders. Shoot as mutch as you can and protect your guys so you dont phase out. I recomend bigger necron armys for these rules but I know eldar like my next door nieghbor, but good luck and I hope you win and kick ass! And if any one dosent agree tell me why.
Never USE PARIAH or C'TAN, pariah is too slow, C'tan take out too much point. A C'tan is 200pt(somthing like that), with that kind of point, you get 10 warrior, meaning 10 more 24 inch gauss shot, 20 more rapid shot, 10 more count for the phase out. My idea is to take 9 Immortal with a Lord with SoL, Orb of Res, and Veil. the Immortals move with the Lord. Take 1 Monolith for the reroll WBB with 1 or 2 Heavy Destroyer for low AP shot. 10 Scarab swarm bases(really useful, get them into combat with Dark Reapers, or other shooty unit), the rest just put in warriors.
