quick question about tabletop, how is it played? if any one has seen the commercials for heroscape(which is another tabletop game, but i dont have it) i was wondering if it was played like that. what about req resource and power and pop cap? how does all that work?
req & power are only in DOW, the TT is a turn based game, and usally done in phases, first you move your army then shoot, assault and close combat rounds then your opponent has his go. it is all done with dice lots of dice, the armys are chosen from a codex useing a points value for exampel a standard game is 1500 points u then spend points to pick your army untill you have no points left you opponent has done the same so both armys are balanced then you sett up your army on the TT and go to war, it's way more complicated then that but thats the general idea.
and there are objectives at times. Where you have to take hold of markers and all
It seems to me that the games that are talked about are epic or wharhammer 40k. There's another one, a bit different, called Space Hulk. One player plays SM, another one, Stealers. It is played on a board, divided into squares. Each model as an amount of point to be spent for action (eg : moving 3 squares ahead, shooting...) Ususally, the marine player as up to 2 squads of term, wich have to perfom a mission into a huge spaceship. The stealer player is to prevent him to do it.
