Obviously, we all had (and still have) our expectations concerning the relationship between the Dawn of War game series and the Warhammer 40 000 universe. How do you think, (in terms of models, campaign setting, anything that comes to your mind), which race beares the most resemblance to the tabletop and/or paperbook original? Well, in my not-so-humble opinion, the Space Marines stick closest to the Wh 40 000 universe. Their army includes most of the tabletop models (without numerous variants however) and the setting of the campaigns matches the "Space Marine style". More or less anyway.. . What say you?

I would have to say the necrons because i think they're stats are pretty accurate and include all of necron's units but the Deciever.

Hmm. True. Somehow i didn't take it into account, that you can field almost every unit available in the original Necron army.

Id say tau if you could upgrade your pathfinders with rail rifles and could make sniper drones. But the space marines are really true to table top. Even tho i have never played or bought table top figs i have seen many pics of them.

Necrons and tau. the other races, being older, have far more units than could possibly be represented in the game (imagine all those different variations of tanks the IG have).

how could it be SM, your not allowed to have 4 heavy weps in TT, or have more then 3 dreads. I vote Ork they are much more combined with the codex in general.

I personally think the Space Marines should be far more powerful, but far less numerous. They are almost literally, demigods in their own right, but in the game, they are shit, they die too easily, their attack is too weak, and they break morale too easily. Also, their vehicles are too weak - The land speeder's assault cannons are moderate against light infantry, but suck against everything else, the Land Raider, according to some sources, is almost equal in power to a titan hunter, but the lascannons on the sponsons are even weaker than a dreadnought's lascannons. And as for the predator's heavy bolters... I could go on and on. But I won't. All this just serves to back up my point that Space Marines are definitely not the most true to the codex and to fluff, they're far too weak.

well SM's and IG are nowhere near what they should be. I don't hink that much of the game meets the codexes or for that matter, DOW is still awesome, I vote Orks cuz they use numbers as they do in TT.
