But they aren't rebels cuz they work for the Imperium and find artifacts and the like and the other ones are retired from the Imperium and have been granted troops in order to search the outer rim. I actually have rules for playing a rogue trader army somewhere around my house let me kno if u would like me to post them.

1)They do are rebels. They're a bit like Gaunt. They just put it too far. They're valuable elements and Imperium hates to spoil anything. They can't be trusted with regular duties, so they're sent to near-suicide missions. As Gaunt in "Traitor General / His Last Command" by the way... If those Rogue Traders succeed, it's way cool, if they fail, it's done and they paved the way for more regular search teams...

SeigBut wut if a few of them did manage to survive, they barely got away. But not enough to fight back against chaos or the emperor and instead lived on the outskirts of the galxy because they dare not reveal their presence or they would be slughtered so instead small band sof these marines conquered a few planets on the outskirts and building in power until one day when they can strike back against the people that tried to kill them. Would that work?

A few did escape and went back to terra to warn the emp, it was called the flight of the eisenstein. Its how the still loyal members of the traitor chapters were fighting on istvaan and something like 70 got away.

yeah but imperial records dont say what happened to them. Some say they were imprissioned due to the belief that they too would turn to chaos, some say that they fought for their emperor till they died and others that they too eventualy turned to the dark gods.

Thats what I said earlier on in a previous post. none of the current fluff explains what happens to them. But hopefully the new books will reveal this. I also read that some of these SM that have survived had latent phsykic abilities and their geneseed was used for the GK. Non fact though so I don't know.. wait and see i guess
