I'm thinking about getting a new video card, but I was wondering what would be better in terms of performance and money. I'm really just curious about this. Like for example would it be better to have an Nvidia Geforce 6800 Ultra 256mb, or 2 Nvidia Geforce 6800GT OC 256mb from BFG tech?

the 2 6800gts together would kick the shit out of the ultra. 6800gts are basically just lower clocked 6800 ultra cards. the 2 gt's would probly cost about twice as much as the single ultra, but in most games you would get about twice the performance of the single ultra.

SLi doesn't really show it power advantage until you clock up your games to 1600x1200 and full everything. I would still go with the SLi but you have to worry about cost then.

Yeah, but thats the idea to get a badass video card setup, so that i can run all my games at maxed settings at high resolutions. But i dont really know if its worth it, the cost of 2 gts is almost twice as much as a single ultra. And with a decent system the ultra by itself can run most games maxed out. I guess the SLi setup might last me a while into the future though.

Get one 7800GTX vs 2 6800's........ thats my awnser and I'm right. Heres why, the 7800 rig is cheaper, just as fast, takes less power, and u can add a 2nd 7800 to power-her-up. I love being perfect!

Fragger is right. Get a 7800GTX. Your question is impossible to answer. In some instances 2 6800GT's would outperform a 6800Ultra, in other instances, a single 6800GT would outperform 2 6800Ultra's. I would never reccommend that you get a 6800Ultra though... if you go with only one card, get a 6800GT and overclock it. It is the same card as the 6800Ultra at a lower clock speed, and you can reach Ultra speeds easily on the stock cooling of the 6800GT. But like FX-Fragger said, if your spending that much money DEFINATELY GET A 7800GTX!!!

Fragger is correct (on this one, anyway). But still far from perfect. And if $600 for a 7800GTX is a little steep for you, it's GT brother should debut in August for around $450.

I was suprised when i saw the benchmarks for the 7800, very fast, but at the same time, excellent price point, i think it may be cheaper than some 6800Ultras at the moment, plust he new tech on the 7800 is killer! just read about it at THG

It's cheaper than the 512MB version of the 6800Ultra, but not cheaper than any of the 256MB versions. But since no games that I'm aware of really need 512MB of video memory, the 7800GTX outperforms the 512MB 6800Ultra by quite a bit.
