Roaming EastSuch a setup (not TOTALLY obscene as a friend of mine is running it) CAN and will destroy an 800W PSU in little less than a 2 months of operation
It must have been a cheap PSU then.
no, just the simple effects of running shiat at near capacity over any extended period of time. They make ALL electronics with that cushion. Your processor is more than capable of being 10% faster at any given time but they down tune its performance to extend its service life. If you have the above system i just described and you have a 800W Silverstone your equipment WILL fail after about 2 months of continuous service. as a rule of thumb, if your system is using x amount of power, your power supply should be in the y recommended wattage for proper life (typically an excess of 75W maximum peak use to account for things such as peak process, power spikes surges etc.)
Well, it is possible to SLI at least Four 8800 Ultras, that's got to take up some power... not to mention if you have one of those fancy PPUs, or Network Accelerators.
You can quad SLI? O.O
Technically speaking, wouldn't a poorly-designed piece of hardware need so much power than the 1000 PSU would be needed? I'm sure 4x GTXs would push the min reqs up to 700 watts.
Bs|Archaon;3978511Because idiots buy them. Why else?
what he said. a lot of people will spend that kind of cash on something to say they have a 1300W PSU. 1300W PSU's are targeted at the people with more money than brains demongraphic

Who is buying quad SLI anyway?? 150fps with SLI and 200fps with quad SLI is the same thing because you don't see any visual improvement after more than 60fps
