I agree with marvinmatthew, even if inbound protection is redundant, a Firewall is still advisable for outbound protection. If that wasn't the case, then the XP firewall would be the recommended choice.
Aurocks;3517387Yeah, I tried that... Doesn't work but my Xfire/Internet stays online so that's good.
So we now have two problems. ZoneAlarm causes Xfire to exit out, after a period of inactivity. Perhaps ZoneAlarm is blocking a port that Xfire uses when it has gone idle. I have no clue.
Then there is the Internet Explorer problem. Something is preventing IE from connecting to the internet. If it isn't a firewall issue, then what could it be?
The only thing I can say to do, is start from the top. Try changing all of the Internet settings, until you get it to do something.
Wait as in internet I meant my DSL not going out after a couple hours. I still can't get IE to work even with ZoneAlarm disabled
Well my internet doesn't require any settings to work so I don't think it's the internet, all I have to do is plug it into my computer. As for my problem it really isn't that big of a deal and it seems a lot of people don't really know what exactly is causing the problem and I don't either so thanks for the help anyways guys. :)
Until next time:cya:
