Just wondering what would be better 4 x 1g or 2 x 2G sticks, i can get 4 X1g sticks for a hell of a lot cheaper then the 2 x2g but i was just wondering is there any downsides for using 4 sticks instead of 2.
Any reply's would be good :]
The only downside I know of is that if you fill all 4 RAM slots (assuming it has 4) then to upgrade you need to replace them; whereas with 2 sticks you can just add 2 more.
It also depends on the speed, I know that some motherboards cannot support 4 x 1gig of 1066 RAM, they have to have 2 x 2gig.
You won't be able to run four sticks in dual channel.

Id go for 2 Sticks of 2. Then you could add even more in the future.
2x2gb and you got 2 free slots
I'm way cooler than n0e (who isn't though?)

no not 2x2. It depends on the speeds. The 4x1 Might have better Cas latency and timing. What does he need two empty spots for? another 4 Gigs?!
