The card is almost useless until you hit the HIGH resolutions, its beating SLI and crossfire rigs at 1900X1600 and above
and when the DX10 games hit, its gonna rock
Yes, very true stalker, the 7950GX2 can do anything on 1600x1200 so you need to be higher than that before even considering the new cards really. Or when DX-10 games come like you say. THeres no point! wait for the prices drop until either DX-10 games are abundant or you have a monitor that can do more than 1600x1200.
I got a iiyama vision master 502 which does 1800 x 1440. Im holding on though till theres a DX-10 game i want and theres non in the pipe-line except Alan Wake, im intreaged at that one. ArmA & Stalker is what im looking forward to. Crysis is all hype, It's EA and i aint expecting alot from it contents wise. Nothing new there but fancy graphics. EA are good at hood winking people with fancy graphics!!! Plus its EA and i said i wouldnt buy anything of there's again since 1.3 of BF2, THere's only so much one person can take from EA and that was my last straw!
BTW - No doubt the 8800GTX is AWESOME!!! But price doesnt reflect what it should be, People will be throwing away money if they run out and get them, But for people who 'must' have the best and have the money, go for it. Let them deal with and iron out all the problems that come with new hardware/drivers etc etc
Marvin, m3sSh3aD - chill. There's no point in arguing over something that silly.
hehe :)
Im not agueing, i restrained myself, After reading back my post as well, i can see how he may have thougt i was being a bit cocky with ATI + Nvidia, didnt mean it come across like that ;)
In a nutshell i meant ATI 'normally' make the 'more sophisticated' hardware and fall over with there drivers. And Nvidia have better support for OpenGL and alot of other things.
BTW, Cant wait see proper reviews of the ATI and Nvidia's compared, Hopefully by the year out as well :)
Fair enough agree to disagree. However, I do think that ATi has gotten better with their Windows drivers over the past two years.
Now we just need to wait for some decent Linux support....
I'd like to see game deveolpers support linux, that would be nice. Actually give people a choice weather or not they want to use windows!!! Im sure alot would move to linux as well. I aint used it for a few years now, bet its come along way since i last used it
I'd wait till the prices come down and you can have a choice of either ATI & Nvidia, Got a feeling ATI may be a fair distance ahead of Nvidia with these DX-10 cards
Is those R600 specs are remotely true then it looks like it.
