Except... The 98000 GTX isnt coming out for... oh... a year?
I was thinking late spring 2008.
forget it, im not buying a new card for the coming two years if not more. My 8800gts 320 mb is damn good, if nvidia launches maybe the nvidia 9900 gtx or the 10000 gtx :D maybe :D
Yeah, I have that card too.
I guess the big deal with the 9000GTX is that it's supposed to be like 3x as powerful as the 8800 GTX...and that is mindblowing, I think.
well its good that its that powerful, it would be stupid that the card is only slightly better and you need to pay almost 200€ more for it.
Like the GTX to the Ultra...

That's why I'm waffling over getting an 8800GT right now to replace my 7950GT with; at ~$250, it's a great deal. I think I can last a few more months though if the 9 series are going to be as great of a leap forward as some rumors have suggested (with a grain of salt). I'd be happy to wait and pay a bit more for that. It's not like my current card sucks, though Crysis gave it a good beating. That's the first time a game really has, hence my temptation to upgrade now.
I'll just stick to my old and trusty X1600 <3

I believe everyone from a X800XT (:(). To a 8800GTX has had that same thought. You keep wanting it to look better and better until it finally can't possibley look any better at all. Huge amounts of people went and bought 8800GT's right when they came out just for the sole purpose of Crysis. Kinda of like what Halo 3 did for 360's..in the month of September the 360 sales sky-rocketed because everyone wanted in on Halo 3.
Even if the 9800GTX comes out in early '08, it will likely be mid to late '08 until it's anywhere near affordable. Thus my decision to get the OEM refurbed X1950Pro 512MB AGP I saw for $109 to upgrade my tiring old X800XT while I'm waiting. Three times the speed of an 8800GTX is mind blowing yes, but when you look at what some games can do to an 8800GTX at 1920x1200 on max settings it becomes apparent that it's needed. It will be a card many can use on today's large displays for some time to come without using SLI. Just the fact that a 9800GTX will probably allow high enough FPS at 1920x1200 with max settings to use Fraps and still have playable frame rates on any game is enough to get me excited. Imagine making 960x600 videos of Crysis without a hint of lag or compromising settings.
