Sgt. D. Pilla;4324072I'd say neither :P I found the 8800GT to in the end, be sucky and not powerful enough, but it lasted me for...6 months *Well, will last for 6 months, till I get the 9900GT* And the 9600GT is just shocking. If you want cheap card, that performs mediocre, but is aimed at the high end market, get the 9800GTX... Its performance is not great improvement, and its price is piss poor *Heaps cheap* and yet is aimed at the high end market...Makes me sad :(

You sure you aren't bottlenecked by your cpu? When I don't overclock my dual core, it significantly impacts the performance of my 8800GT by at least 30-40%. Just thought I'd mention that since most folks seem to love their 8800's, as I do. ;)

I still suggest the 8800GT. Great card for the price, especially with the links I posted earlier that brought it down to about $150.

9800GTX is not a mediocre card, neither is the 8800GT. The 9600GT is a mid-high range card imo. My one gripe about the 9800GTX is its price and that its performance is about the same as the 8800GTS G92.

For sure, the 8800GT is a good card I know, but for me, its not enough, and for what it could be its fairly poor. Yes I am bottlenecked on by the CPU, massivly, BUT my mate isn't and it doesn't seem all the hype is deserved. Price wise its fantastic, performance wise it is great, but just doesn't seem worth the high end market title. Like wise, the 9800GTX doesn't deserve the high end market, its aimed at the high end market, with an average performance only SLIGHTLY greater then an X2 *3870 X2*, where the Ultra still beats the X2... Its basically 8800Ultra is a high end card, and the 9800GTX is mean't to be to, but yet doesn't have the performance of it :(

......From everything Ive heard
