Im thinking about upgrading my graphics card (GeForce 6800) to a new 8800 GTS 320MB but I've been reading forums that say how it has a bug that causes huge fps drops in games. If this is the case I dont want to blow 300$ on a new one. Im not sure what to do. Is there a fix yet or what?

Blimey dont get an 8500, they are virtually budget and slower in some regards than your x1600. At least plump for an 8600. Your money is better spent on a 1950 than an 8500 or 8600 unless dx10 is absolutely vital to you.

Cheeseking i own an 8800 and provided you get a driver that suits you they are fine. I have had the fps issue you spoke of but with the right driver its not a problem.

Erm, I'm pretty sure a 8800GTS isnt going to do anything but RAISE your FPS strongly. There is no "bug" of which you speak.

Got a 8800GTS and it works quite fine with the drivers from the CD (97.92). Had strange bugs with NWN when trying some 15x.xx drivers, but I guess that's the drivers' fault since they don't happen with older ones ^^

Go for it with confidence, is a good card, I advice you to get EVGA because they give lifetime warranty
