I have an Nvidia 8800GTS and love it. If you have the money, go for it. Its faster than what you have now.

You can wait until you actually *need* it. But since price obviously doesn't matter for your parents, then go for it.

Shintsu;3410312You've got a great PC already, just keep it and wait for ATI to release their DX10 cards and for more to be made so they drop in price. I remember the 7800s being about $500 on Newegg when they were new, and now you can get the 7900 GT for $250.

Actually, I just recieved my new XFX Geforce 7900 GS that I bought at tigerdirect for only $190.

I'm wondering the same thing :p If I were you I'd keep the two 1950 for a long time. DX10 games will take a while to become widespread (and even when they have, do you really care if you spend a few months without the latest eye candies? Life is long enough), and until then you WILL not have problems with two X1950. You might be able to "skip" the 8800 generation, and buy a 89xx or X29xx watever card when they are out, which will be cheaper and certainly better than a 8800GTX. Always buying the newest techs the moment they come out is going to disappoint you greatly, the 8800GTX is very pricy right now and will only be the king of the hill for so long before another more powerful card comes out and you feel an urge to buy a new one. Just look at the 7800GTX, they are getting eaten alive by late cards of their generation like the 7900 or X1950. Same will happen to the 8800.

Nah... Get the 8800. Those x1950's are junk. I'll take 'em off your hands for a couple hundred bucks so it's not a complete loss, mmmk? :D
