I have 8 GB and all i really plan on doing is strickly gaming so i should be fine for like 2 years. I could go out and buy 8 more gigs but that will be beyond overkill.

This thread didn't disintegrate until Choc insisted on continuing riding my nerves. After I tried responding matter of fact he ignored what I said about not needing to be told about turning off Superfetch and came up with this little passive aggressive gem. He clearly didn't pay attention to my having pointed out I know fully well how to disable fetching (not to mention select fetching values and/or make disable/enable one click reg tools), then goes on to imply I'm lying about how much RAM I have, uses profanity, and implies I'm non sensical and wasting my time, even saying I'm looking at RAM usage ALL the time, which is far from the case. Then he implies just because I don't like Superfetch that I like XP better than W7. Then the worst part, he implies I'm some simpleton with too much time on my hands. All that snobbery and then he comes to admit AFTER he starts a flame war that he's using TWICE that much RAM himself!

Chocu1a;5491352Just saying, if superfetch makes you want to restart your pc before you play a game, why even bother having the process running? If you have 6Gb ram, which you claim to have, then why the hell are you worried? Superfetch DOES what is supposed to do, Windows 7 manages memory just like it is supposed to do, & you are doing something that makes no sense at all. But Hey, it your time to waste, so do it. I have never ever had any issues with memory usage or management, not once since the Win.7 beta or the RTM through technet. It does actually work just like I said, just like it was designed to, just like it is supposed to. Go back to XP for christs sake...omg! Seriously, who looks at memory usage all the time! You have more than enough memory, & it sounds like too much time on your hands. Let the OS do its job.

Yeah I know in sports you're treated like equally guilty, or often the instigator when you react to a foul, but this is mere chat on an open forum, not an athletic business. If you can't take the time to look and see what causes such crap to fly, you're no more than adding fuel to the fire when you don't acknowledge the cause of such escalations. ONE person should not be given the leeway to start a war by passive aggressively spewing flame bait. Crap he even had several others joining in on a lynch mob. He goes on to admit that the way Windows uses RAM is a mystery to him and that he bought twice the RAM he needed on a mere whim, and I'M the one being wasteful? So yeah, you're damn right I'm going to say something about it. It was just a conversation until Choc leveled that very hostile post I quoted here.

Last I checked, people who were found guilty of cheating in sports aren't given the same innocent until proven guilty that everyone else has. once you act like a jackass, you are forever branded as a jackass and are treated as such. Sorry Omen, but once you start crap with people you dont exactly get a second chance, even if you view it to be perfectly acceptable. Theres a good chance that someone from this forum is going to get aggravated at some bullshit that you say, you dont exactly look to make friends by calling EVERYONE passive aggressive. Get a new catch phrase brosef and take a chill pill.

Dooooit. That way you can have the most ram out of any of us on here. And since when is overkill a bad thing?

Translation: He started it. A great (and long-winded) comeback.

@ Demtri: If you go, you'd better leave a few Minecraft servers running. (Because you can! FFS! =p)

derailed. charlie sheen By the way, I never said you didn't have 6gigs. I have no doubt that you do

I was stating you are ridiculous for restarting your pc before gaming, every time, instead of simply disabling the very process that makes you want to do this impractical action, because you say you have 6gb ram, but you act like you only have 2... Simply asinine. & I said I was an asshole, which I totally am. Have a nice day.

I'm with Kow. No such thing as overkill. Unless of course you are like me, and have a temperamental memory controller that can't handle more than two rows of RAM without downclocking - then you are just shooting yourself in the foot. But afaik, that problem is limited to AMD's AM2 chips. Volatile little bastards. On another note:

I read somewhere that even 8 gigs is overkill for gaming and im not saying its bad it just might be that my system may never benfit from lets say i go for 16 gigs. It would be like having 4 GB of ram on an old Althon 64 system.
