If you're only willing to spend $50, you might as well stick with the motherboard's on-board video solution.

Ditto to both the above statements.

What exactly did you "upgrade"?

A "good" AGP card will set you back around $150

Well you have two choices for that price range. **Under 60$ Not Counting Shipping** And yes your board should work with 8x agp.

Nvidia: 5950 ultra ATI: 9600 pro

If you want it to be under 50$ your best bet will be the ATI 9200 series. Which I have never used before. Or the Nvidia fx5200 which I have also never used but heard about it from a freind of a freind... Also newegg is sold out of 5950's but you should be able to find it. Also you can buy a 250gig drive for that same price range. Just don't get upset when it bursts into flames a few years later.. lol

Pro Tip - You can also buy an intel 2.2ghz cpu for 50$ with shipping. Just because you can't afford a core duo + 8800 doesn't mean you can't buy a machine. Not everyone has a mom or dad to ask an allowance from. :(

Some people know how to manage money though, and not to spend it on components as soon as they get any amount of pocket money.

Others just want something cheap to get them by, while they save up for that next major upgrade.

Try asking around at local computer shops, and ask people who live nearby. I lucked up and got a Geforce 6800 128mb, AGP8x for $10 USD. A pretty sweet deal.

My Specs.For comparison.

AMD Sempron 2400+ 256mb DDR400 160gb HDD 20gb HDD 52x CD-RW Geforce 6800 128mb

It could probably just barely hold its own against your system y0u, coming in at a close second. It would probably do better in benchmarks, if it had 512, or a Gig of RAM. I miss my other stick of RAM...

For $50 you're looking at low end ones, unless you fluke something like Monster did.

I used to have an FX5200 128MB on AGP 8X. It served its purpose well enough, but for most games I had to turn the settings way down. Right now I have a 6600GT 128MB, also on AGP. It put me back $130, but it's way worth it.
