Well my computer was eventually fixed from a different topic but i'm still havin a problem that was happenening before my comp took a shit. Well whenever i load up a game usually I will be at the menu for it like 5-10 seconds and my computer will just freeze. At random times and everything, some times my computer will work fine and other times my game wont work for hours at a time and fine for others. So i have no idea what could be the problem because its so unpredictable. This problem only began recently and the games that I have been problems with I have been playin for months.

Heat issues will cause this along with other things like a failing hard-drive.

I've never had heat issues in the past, also could reformatting do anything to help out you think? Also another wierd thing is I can't update my sound card because it says it isn't even there. Uhhh : /

its possible some thermal paste has dried up on you. replace ALL thermal grease, thermal pads work best, and re seat your HSF's. case fans should be in even numbers, 2,4,6,8,etc, have half blowing in and half blowing out. do this and get back to us. (there is no magic button, stability issues suck and you have to jsut work at them)

Well i talked with hp support chat for about 4 hours and they ended up tellin me its a problem with my hardrive. I've tried every way to recover my compute but nothin is workin so far. I tried switchin the Master slave cables around moving the other primary master to my had drive and that didnt do anything. So i guess a harddrive is something i need but his stuff is kinda hard to do with no money:/ uhhhh shit

My computer is about 3-4 years old. That is probably the problem right there...lol AMD ATHLON 2000+ 768 RAM ATI 9800 PRO. It has been workin fine but hp thnks my harddrive is corrupt. I don't know what the problem is. I've been tryin to boot my computerthrough an instillation disk but it keps goin to a Windos could not start successfully thing.:/ I don't think its the processors fault so i dont know. If i wa to buy a new harddrive would ineed to buy a new windows c-d also?
