go to start/run then type regedit. This will allow you edit the registry. Just remember that if you delete something there, you might not be able to run windows. The best thing to do before you start playing in there is make a backup and then learn how to reinstall the backup. Best to know how to return things to normal in case you screw up.

Did this "computer scan" occur from a popup? I wouldn't trust it if I were you. Not only that, mucking around in the registry is NOT something an uneducated person should be doing. You can break your OS if you delete even one bad item, and trying to repair is really hard.

If you're THAT concerned about it, go to www.ccleaner.com and download crapcleaner, which is a free regsitry and temporary file cleaning program. It will get rid of all kinds of files you don't need any more, and it will get rid of old registry entries (or "keys" as Windows calls 'em) leftover from programs you've uninstalled. It will prompt you to back up your registry before you run the cleaner, which you should do EVERY time you run it so that if something gets f!@#ed up, you've got a working one to go back to. Name it something along the lines of "don't delete!" or "Registry Backup" so you don't accidentally get rid of it.
