Do AGP video cards work in SLI motherboards? I wouldn't be taking advantage of the SLI at all. I might in the future, but not right now.
nope, they are physically completely different type of slots on the motherboard, SLI requires PCI-Express slots
Thinking about it.
damn. okay, thanks.
There is a motherboard on the market that has AGP and PCI E slots. It enables you to use your AGP card on it till you feel you need to upgrade to PCI E. Its called the EP-5VEAI and its available from www.epox.com
(Sorry still not SLI though)
AsRock Has a socket 939 dual sata 2 board which actually lets use use agp & pci-x. Not sli, but you can use any graphics card you want. It evens upgrades to AMD's next socket: M. I use an AsRock mobo & it works just fine. Just not for the uber OCer's. They are solid though. Owned by Asus I believe. Check it out on newegg.
I checked out the site, but no EP-5VEAI! That would've been a nice mobo to get. I'll google it later. It sucks I can't upgrade my mobos cpu until I get a new mobo. and I can't get the cpu I really want, the fx-57, because its $1000, so i'll get a amd xp 3500+, which is 939 pin [future upgrading! maybe fx-57 when i get the money. :(] and very upgradeable. but then with the sli board, I'll need a new video card, a good pci-e one, like the 7800 gtx 512. but that's $750, so i think i'll just end up getting the mobo and 3500+, and waiting 6 months till I have enough for the 7800 gtx 512. so like, in the fall of 06, I'll be installing all my new parts. totally gay. :(. I don't normally use that word, but it so is.
