Customer Reviews Of AMD Athlon 64 LE-1620 2.4GHz 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 45W Single-Core Processor - Retail Bassically a revamped +4000 San Diego, which was a great chip at its time, thats less power consuming and runs cooler. People are breaking 3GHz on the OC, and at 50 bucks, it dominates the market!

Pretty nifty for a $50 chip.

Wonder if it's any better than the new similarly priced Celerons? Those are reportedly great little overclockers as well. Too bad they had to slap that kiss of death Celeron name on them.

I wouldn't trust the celerons because they slapped on a 512KB L2 Cache on them instead of a 1MB. I know you could get the highest priced one up to 3GHz, where it might be a little faster or could be slower, for $15 more. At that price you can get something better.

Ah, I still think that AMD's best overclockers are the black. But still, for 50 bucks, that's one hell of a chip. I'd like to see what professionals can do with it.

I also find it amazing that AMD is producing new versions.

The +5000 65nm is the only good "black", and at 129.99, I would rather buy a core 2 e4500. It will dominate its world! The +6400 at 3GHz stock and an unlocked multiplier, is a joke because the old architecture can barely push 3.2, some have managed 3.4 but stability is not a 100% acceptable.

That chip actually looks like a really good buy at that price. It's not dual core, but its only $50, and is pretty darn fast for a single core.
