I want to know what you guys think about AMD vs. Intel, especially since Core 2 Duo Extreme is out on the market now. Are you AMD loyalists or does it really just depend on how fast and energy efficient the latest chip is?

So, let me know your thoughts. I'm interested to hear.

Also, can anyone tell me some good gaming bloggers and/or sites?

I am researching a bit on gamers opinions in general and where you get good gaming info.

Thanks

If i was building a new computer right now and money was no matter, i'd probably go for a Core 2 Duo. or wate until the quad cores come out at the end of the year. AMD is great, but the Athlons just loose when it comes to intel's new monster. Id i was building a system on a buget, AMD all the way. the Pentium 4/D's were just junk, even though i have one, compaired ot the Athlons. AMD is suspose to be coming out with their 4X4 platform soon (biscally dual processors) so that could also give conroe a run for its money. AMD also will undoubtly come out with a conroe raper sooner or later

Thanks for the responses. Can you recommend some good bloggers? Where do you get your info in general, or is it just word of mouth?

AMD's Athlon 64's killed the Pentium 4's in just about everything, most importantly, gaming.

If your comparing anything older than Conroe, AMD all the way. If your talking about Conroe, Then Intel currently is the best.

But i'm not a really a loyalist to either, i go with whatever has the best price to performance ratio, and whatever is the fastest that fits my budget.

I've been very happy with how well my Intel Pentium 4 has aged in my desktop. It's four years old now, and still up to any task I throw at it.

As for my Centrino, it's also very powerful, and does a terrific job with battery life.

So, I've seen no reason to switch to AMD. Altough, if I had been building a new PC in the last three years or so, I would have probably would have used an AMD 64.

Both companies make some terrific products. Intel has always had the laptop market cornered, no questions asked, but the desktop chips have been going back inforth.
