How many people use it, and which programs do you use?

Personally, all I use is Spybot SD, no antivirus programs or anything, and my computer is clean slate xD

www.antivir.com

I bought the premium package of firewall, spyware scanner, firewall and a few other things....and it's been very good so far. Minimal resource usage as well, unlike Norton software.

The personal edition (the virus scanner) is free though.

How do you know that if your not running any antivirus programs? Viruses can be pretty damn sneaky you know.

On my PC, my antivirus is Avast! home edition, works great. I have antispyware/adware programs and a firewall too.

I run nod32 and avg for virus protection. I also run adaware ccleaner and spybot every few weeks as needed.

How would you know whether or not your computer is as clean as you say it is. You have no software to detect the scope of infections in existence. What may appear clean to you, could very well be filled with unobtrusive malicious malware. Of the many goals malicious software goes for, much of it strives for seamless integration into unsuspecting computers. Just because you have no lag, no latency, no noticeable signs of infection, is no reason to think you aren’t infected with one thing or another right now.

They’ve learned from prior mistakes that performance loss is a key sign to malware infection, so the logical next step they have taken, is to design, implement, and distribute malware that doesn’t give users noticeable performance loss, yet maintains equally dangerous potentials.

Don’t assume because you get good frame rates, have no popups, or cant “see” signs that your pc is clean. That would be a mistake, as I’ve already experienced from doing the exact same thing, surfing with no protection.

For me, I use AVG pro 7.0, Zone Alarm Pro 6.5, & Spyware Doctor. If you want some good reviews I suggest this site. http://adwarereport.com/ They intentionally infect entire machines in controlled testing and verify all the products they review with real world results.

You really should have an antivirus. I recommend avast!, it's free and works very well without sapping resources.

I'm still using Norton 2006. I got for free from my dad's workplace with a two year virus definition subscription, whatever it's called. Works pretty well for me.

For spyware I use a combination of Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D.
