I like running Windows as my main system, but Ubuntu is my favorite and ultimate tool for most repairs or getting into stuff on my machine I probably shouldn't be. That and it's a lovely compiler when I use it as a VM, even works well as an ad hoc server :D It's an excellent system :)

I used to run it. I keep it around out of nostalgia now.

I am not impressed with Gnome 3, nor KDE 4. KDE 4 is not asthetically pleasing, and Gnome 3's Unity shell is more difficult for me to use.

Im running Ubuntu 11.10 as my main system now... finding the change quite nice, liking Unity instead of GNOME very much

Used to like it, tried it out recently, I'm not too keen on the way the UI is going. I've never used it as my main OS though, purely because, as always with anything Linux based, it looks simple on the surface, but before long you run into something that would take 2 seconds to do in Windows that requires me to slave over a command box in Ubuntu typing $sudo shit_i_dont_want_to_remember

It's good when using it on a VPS or dedicated box, however.

No, if your using Ubuntu it is,...

Google search the Ubuntu forums for the latest repository. Add the security key for the repo. Find out that the repository needs another repository to work, usually a disabled Ubuntu official unsupported repo.

Then install the package, and hope they maintain it for more than a year.

I like the Windows method of "Run installer" then "enjoy new game / program" better, to be honest.

Ubuntu demands you know exactly what you're doing, all the time, and is unforgiving in that nature It's useless if you want to get through your evening without a headache, sadly.
