The Force is strong with him

ok, first off i fixed it, this is not me asking a question on how to solve a problem, i just thought it was really wierd, and if anyone else has heard of it ok i go to print something off my moms laptop where the printer is hooked up to (its a brother mfc 8820d) and it says on the printer "Check MP Tray" so after fiddeling around with it for a while i couldnt get it to work, thinking it was something wrong with the printer i called up the printer tech where i work and he says he'll take a look at it. he said he reset the flag for the mp tray and it was working fine both stand alone and on the computer at my job. so i take it home and it still says it, so i call him back up and we test it for a lil and its working fine again there. i plugged my laptop into it and it worked fine, so i scanned the crap outa my moms laptop and found a couple of threats using ad-aware, once i cleared them out it now runs fine now i know the wire running to the printer is bi-directional, meaning that the laptop sends information to it, and the printer sends information to the laptop, but i still didnt think a piece of spyware or anything for that matter, could cause the printer itself to have an error message, the printer tech where i work was really surprised, and hes been doing this a long time and said hes never seen anything like it so i was wondering if anyone had

I've never had problems like this, but if a spyware program interferes with the transfer of data between the computer and printer, it could very easily show up in the printer.
There's no possible way that any spyware or adware or anything malicious on your computer could cause physical hardware problems with your multi-function printer.
But, it could hamper your computer's ability to use and talk to the printer.
The 'check mp' error generally indicates that there has been a paper jam in the multi-purpose tray.
