well im thinking about getting a certain HDTV fairly soon for my bedroom, so i can watch high quality television and so it wont be getting out dated. The one im looking at is a Phillips 170T4FS, now i was just wondering if any of you guys had a HDTV, whether you were using it as a monitor or as a television or whatever and im also wondering, that even though there is no HDDVD yet, is the quality much better? thanks
I didn't make it!
My guess is that it's like moving from 640x to 1280x -just try playing with your monitor if you are that curious. ;)
Yeah, once we got the HDTV, it was an amazing difference, I haven't used it as a monitor yet, but it's something I've been meaning to try.
HDTV is a lot better looking than a regular TV but its only as good as the TV you have. Also it depends if your cable or sat provider has HD Channles. Provider I have only has around 20 channles in HD and the other 140 channles are not. Also on the monitor side its only has good as the video card you give it.
HDTV looks like DVD movies on your TV. It's resolution is higher than normal TV, so the picture is sharper. Most programs are filmed with cameras which can't do HD anyway, so I would save the money. TV is very sharp if you have Sky or Freeview anyway, because the signals are stronger.
ahh alright, thanks Reven or anyone else british, is there any tv providers like sky or telewest which have any sort of HDTV channels already?
I think there are a few, but they are very expensive and not worth the price. Crap programming on them too.
