I am planning on doing a new build in the next few months and I plan to get the Cooler Master HAF-X.

It will be an air cooled build (to start, might at water cooling down the line) but I wanted to know if anyone here has a HAF-X and if they like it.

Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER HAF X RC-942-KKN1 Black Steel/ Plastic ATX Full Tower Computer Case

It's a Full Tower case (which I must have), has one 230mm front intake fan, one 200mm side intake fan, one 200m top exhaust and one 140mm rear exhaust fan.

I plan to add a second 200mm fan to the top and replace the rear 140mm exhaust fan with a higher quality fan. I'll be cooling the CPU with a Noctua NH-D14 as well.

If you have a case, are you doing anything similar? If you don't have this case, at least give your suggestions/thoughts

I have the 932 & it is an amazing case. The HAF-X improves on the 932 in almost every way. I wish I would have waited a few months until the X came out....well, no, not really, because I really love my 932. But I would trade it in for an X...

What MB do you plan to put in it? It's a good case for the most part but a guy that goes by SirJames and does honest YouTube reviews stating his likes and dislikes says it's MB cutout doesn't fit his EVGA Classified 760, which is merely an eATX vs XLATX board. I wonder if it might even be a bad fit with some XLATX MBs, and XLATX support is one of it's main selling features. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=257891

As a personal nit pick I didn't like that the odd shaped bottom vent is not filtered, despite CM claiming all intakes are. I also thought the tabs holding the front panel on looked flimsy when I saw one at Fry's, though you don't actually have to remove it to get at the front filters. This case is huge though, so be prepared to make room for it's behemoth size. It actually fits a 160mm+ CPU cooler WITH the huge side fan in place.

If you're going to be putting a second fan in the top, why not get teh ATCS 840? Unless of course you really need the side fan...

I prefer the look of the the HAF-X (both inside and outside)

I plan to put a GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R but that may change between now and when I purchase the parts, I'm just putting together a list of contenders

I have the HAF 932 and it is a brilliant case. The 932 has a 23 cm on the front, side and top and a 14cm rear exhaust fan. All are silent so you should not really have to replace any fans but looking at the specs there is a option to add a second 20 cm on the X to the top.

I took the top 23 cm fan out and added 2x120 rads but as I said the fams that come with the HAF's are top notch fans m8.

The room in these things are amazing and the HAF X is the same hieght as the 932 but it is slightly longer (10 cm I think) and they are solid.

I would give you 2 small pieces of advice with these cases. 1) put the castors on. They come with option castors and I did not put mine on. I regret it as I clean it in the kitchen and bugger weighs a ton. 2) dust filter material. The 932 does not come with dust filters and with the big fans it really needs it. Check to see if the X comes with dust filters.

As for my case, well its one of those cases that will last for ever and it looks great. The only way I would part with mine is it broke but I reckon a car could drive over this thing and would still be fine.

The HAF-X has support for a full 360mm rad installed internally at the top, I hope to go with water cooling at a later date and I don't like the look of external rads

I know the HAF-X comes with dust filters for every fan (intake). I've heard it might not have a filter for the PSU intake, but on the other hand I also read that it did, so I don't know. There are conflicting reports on the filters

The 932 has support for a 360 rad. Will take some pics so you can see the size of the 932 and know that the X is bigger :)

Edit Pic added and I know it needs a clean. Will be doing that tomorrow.

Not a bad case but I just love the all black interior of the HAF-X

Me too. I recently bought my wife one of these. CM 690 II Advanced - Cooler Master its smaller but the black interior does add a lot to the over all look. I have considered stripping mine out and painting it but i will leave that until the warranty is up.

You have picked a excellent case and they are built like a tank. I have a feeling they will probably bury me in mine it is seriously that solid.
