it has been said that a 7900 may be launched in February...

I'm not rich, just work too much and have a habbit of making money so wallet is loaded. Easily got the money to spare.

Just a question of a super sound system or not, and how much better that card would be than my x800xl.

Surround sound technology is not changing much, and it has not changed much since dolby digital was introduced. If you grab a good reciver(one of the yamahha or Denon recivers) and a good set of speakers you will be set for 10 years.

well the x800xl is from 2 generations ago in ATi's lineup. I would wait for the prices to come down to get a new one.

I want one, I just have to buy a whole new PC(minus PSU, case and DVD drive) to be able to use it:p

Actually, the X800xl is one generation older than the X1900. The X1900 is very similar to the X1800, they are in the same generation. In fact, the X1900 is probably what the X1800 should've been in the beginning.

I don't trust that site... They can't even get the number of pipes correct...

I like Anandtech's X1900XT/X benchmarks much better.

True, especially since they couldn't even dig up a 7800GTX 512 (the X1900's closest rival) to compare it against.
