FX-Fraggerehh... its not that bad... its just that cards cost so much these days.

They were expensive back then, too.

In fact, to even make them affordable, 3DFX had to sell most of their cards, below production costs. Which is the main reason they went out of business.

They were too far ahead of their time.

GreatGrizzly(or work  )

Funny, I had the exact opposite problem.

I had trouble getting ATI cards to work.

nVidia, and Intel Graphics cards, Just work, for me.

I never had any trouble with my i810 graphics card, aside from speed. It was compatible with every game, and program I tried. Ones that failed on other computers.

Then I upgraded to a TNT2 32mb card, and it would play Battlefield 1942, and Halo. Halo had a frame-rate of about 50fps, on a Dual Pentium III 600mhz, with 512mb of SDRAM. No, Seriously, it did.

The first ATI card I used, was an ATI Rage series card, and I wasn't too impressed, at all. I didn't like, or recommend ATI, untill the Radeon 9800 Pro.

well i had an ATI card that flashed up "catastrophic failure!!" as soon as installed it, however i have not had any problem with Nvidia cards, but thats the way it goes, when i returned it to the shop it had been on special offer so i got an nvidia as a replacement. i would buy an ATI card if i thought it was the right piece of hardware for the job

as for ATI Crossfire beating SLI, well they HAD to or would have looked kind of crappy otherwise. its not better technology just more to brag about as Nvidia have given them a good hammering recently

Thinking about it.

I like ATi, I just want to try nvida's best. How this looks like it will work it that you can take any PCi-e X800 series card and link it externally to a crossfire card(the plan to offer 2, an x850 one for $550 and an X800 one for $300. Promises to give %79 more speed than an X850 single in doom 3. http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2432
